I cannot fathom how difficult it must be for people struggling with their sobriety these days. There is nowhere for people to shop for their necessities of life now that doesn’t smack them in the face with alcohol. Our children are doomed when it comes to easy access to drugs, alcohol, pornography, and access to disturbing information and material about death and gore. Mental health and addiction rates are high, supports are low particularly here in the north.

Its an American company that runs the train, they cite in the story that they will have easy access on site parking at their new location, but there was easy access on site parking at the train station that’s there now. Its too bad that an American company is now operating a tour train that highlights the beauty of northern ontario, using our resources to turn a profit. It is ridiculously priced for what you get but people still go….

They don’t need to load at the canal to benefit the city. The tourists will still be putting their money into hotels and restaurants locally. I am sure that Porco would like people to purchase items at his shops and restaurants for example coffee, sandwiches etc, and Watco would like people to purchase food on the train. If it’s at the Canal District, the restaurants, there will likely get more traffic and therefore make more money…. If it’s on Carmen’s way at the train yard, perhaps tourist will spread their money across the community, providing other restaurants, the opportunity to make a few bucks. Free enterprise will prevail and places that offer good food, wide variety, good prices and excellent service will be the ones that benefit the most, regardless of where the passengers board the train.

It used to load passengers from the defunct mall parking lot, it still sold out. It was a business decision and the company is American, enough said… they do not care about our community, or Canal District’s profits…the train will still draw tourists and make money….

Exactly this!!! If people paid attention while driving, i mean REALLY paid attention, removing stop signs, traffic lights, adding bike lanes, two way traffic…none of it would cause more accidents. People seriously need to stop blaming everyone else for their careless inattentive driving.
