As someone that was born and raised here in Okotoks I have seen the Town grow a lot. It is just what happens. When I was growing up areas like Crystalridge, Sheep River, Drake, Air Ranch, Mountain View, Cimarron didnt exist. I remember a dirt road after Downey that led to the Airport. If growth and development didnt happen, I wouldn't have my home to raise my child in. I always laugh when I hear people complain that Okotoks lost the small Town appeal that it had when they moved here in the late 2000's and mid 2010's... it hasnt been a small Town since the 90's. Stop complaining about growth and look at the home you are in, chances are that if the Town hadn't lifted one of the many population caps... you wouldn't be here. I look forward to seeing what Okotoks can become and what changes it will bring for my child and hopefully my grandchildren.

He is a repeat offender who was caught at the airport with $1.2 million in drugs back in November. The courts need to throw the book at this individual and he should never have been released.

You do realize that if Okotoks hadn't annexed the land around it, Foothills County was going to drop micro-communities all around it. Green Haven is a growing community in FC. Let's also not forget about the proposed Wind Walk development on the south side of Highway 7. Foothills County was prepared to overload Okotoks with surrounding growth. These communities would have used our resources and paid nothing to the Town. Also, dont forget about the FC proposed developments around Aldersyde and Silver Tip. Foothills is fine with "garbage, traffic over load, speeding, roadkill..." as you put it

Im glad to see this happening, too often people come racing up and then rudely gesturing when I do the speed limit in construction zones. The speed limit is reduced for your safety (crews working or not) and the safety of the crew working. Before people start saying that construction zones should be taken down when crews aren't working, it is left up because road conditions are not safe. If a minute or two is an inconvenience, I suggest leaving earlier.
I find it amusing that some individuals believe that the Mayor has sole discretion on the growth and development within Okotoks. As she and others have stated, she has one vote out of seven. The mayor also has no say on density and property sizes, that is set by the National Building Code - Alberta Edition. Growth is inevitable, you may not like it but it happens and no community is exempt. Even communities like Cayley have seen growth.
Okotoks lifted the Cap in 2012 and that cap limit was set at 30,000. We are only 4,000 to 6,000 above that old limit. There were also other proposed caps in Okotoks' history, one at 6,000 residents and another at 15,000... both were defeated. A population cap is not going to help and its nieve to think that it will.
