How is this allowed to happen? People simply take possession of someone else's property, live rent free, and refuse to leave. The system then rewards them by failing to schedule hearings in timely fashion, leaving the property owner with absolutely no recourse. In this case costing the rightful property owner $65,000.The housing crisis is exacerbated by the fact that small landlords are getting out of the business because tenants simply stop paying rent and extort the landlord into paying them to vacate. Time to change the laws and rid ourselves of these parasites.

This is not a new issue, it has been going on for years with various advisory committees. I sat on the Downtown Advisory Committee 8 years ago, where 5 meetings in a row, the main agenda item was "the mandate of the committee". No input to Baker Street, the square, downtown issues. No meaningful decisions, or discussion, just more talk about "the mandate of the committee". The classic definition of the illusion of participatory management.
