BayToday 25I suggest people go on a tour at the hospital just to see how bad it is…. Or isn’t.As someone who was there within the last few days I saw none of this doom and gloom. Person I was visiting had no issue with care, space or even having to share a room. Staff seemed happy. You walk through and you see so much unused space. It may be used occasionally but never saw a bunch of spaces in use over three days. So you have to wonder at the fear mongering, what’s the end game?

BayToday 12Normally a seizure dog is not given to someone until they turn 16 and it is definitely not a puppy. As well most seizure dogs do not detect seizures they provide protection, comfort when one occurs. This seems like ‘find your own solution’ type situation which I ‘m sure still requires accommodation but I think you are setting both up for a challenging time. Anyone can buy a vest off Amazon for $25 these days. My suggestion would be to go with a trained dog from an organization that specializes in this, it will give the boy more confidence and the the dog will have been already taught to ignore well wishers.

BayToday 28A full time enforcement team needs to be put in place before tragedy strikes like burning down the forest off Booth. The smell of smoke from there is so strong. British Columbia is moving back to mandatory confinement for addiction and mental health issues… we need to do the same.

BayToday 21I hope council and law enforcement take the survey seriously. I for one do not go downtown anymore. I do not allow my teenager downtown-not even to access city transit. One incident of someone screaming and spitting on us was enough. This is a provincial issue. When they got rid of psych hospitals these people got moved to the streets. The issues of stabbing, being punched that are occurring in bigger centres are coming to our small city.

BayToday 23Suggest if Mark King wants answers he should do some research. Read the recent studies on Methadone clinics from Johns Hopkins. Let’s remember safe injection sites are to prevent overdose they are not there to help someone get off drugs. They are not there to help people with mental health issues. The conservatives need to bring back the psych hospitals they closed and then booted people to the streets saying services could be available in the community. It’s another failed project.

BayToday 21I watched a documentary about Prince William’s new project. It talks about exactly this issue of so many people are providing services and they are all at wits end. He is creating an environment where all services come together and work together. Do we need all the churches, food bank, gathering place etc providing meals. Co-ordinate it so it’s not so hard on volunteers, businesses etc How many are double and triple dipping on services?
