Since we're spending billions unnecessarily on increased border patrols, hopefully we can stop so many guns and drugs coming from the States into Canada. It's up to the U.S. to protect their border and what enters the country.

This is a tax that I welcome for once! Hope it is effective. Set the rate high and make it hurt to hold onto vacant homes.

It looks good, but I had to chuckle at seeing kids perched on the top of a 20' (or so) bear, but the train at Bellevue Park is fenced off to prevent injuries. I wonder where people are expected to park to access the waterfront facilities, too. Existing parking is being removed, but more is being developed to attract families to the area.

I don't know if the city has the power to do so, but I would like to see a bylaw in place such that empty properties cannot stay empty beyond a set amount of time. (Say one year?) Beyond that, they must be under renovation with a projected end date, or the property is forfeited. It's sickening to see all the empty homes and buildings around the city.

What a lovely gesture! Nice to hear.

While I would love to see more people fined for speeding, especially in school zones and along certain streets where drivers constantly do more than the posted speed limit, I think the cameras would be vandalized and useless in a short period of time.

We're so sorry to read this. We have really enjoyed eating there, and the owners are lovely people. It's shameful that their business visa has not been renewed in a timely fashion.

It was terrific to watch. I'm so glad we were able to see them here in the Soo. Couldn't beat the price of admission!

I look forward to seeing the new developments. As it is prime waterfront property, it could be a spectacular place to live.

That's a really nice gesture. Thank you.

I hope Winmar collected payment up front! I'd rather see development of the property than a fence, but perhaps it will deter squatters and vandals at the very least.

Considering that the two sections of Pine Street are 40km zones past schools and vehicles are speeding through now, I can't see bollards slowing them down.

Despite the many objections and concerns voiced prior to their selection of the preferred route, Hydro One has only made a slight variation. I can't believe this Open House will do anything but allow them to say there was public consultation before they proceed as they wish.

I'm sorry to see it go. We bought beautiful white pine lumber from them for our camp. I'm glad the employees were treated well though. 👍

We had a very pleasant young man at our door the other evening, canvassing on behalf of the Red Cross. As we are already supporters, his only message to us was that we could consider monthly automatic payments. He was not at all threatening, didn't want any credit card or banking information. He also had all the Red Cross identification. We didn't mind our interaction with him at all.

Paid administrative leave at over $400,000?! Who on earth negotiated that? Shameful.

Good video, Diane!

What a lovely, compassionate gesture! This act will be remembered by the family forever. Heartwarming to read. Thanks!

Thank you to the OLG employees for a good job, well done. Sadly, I know this isn't the only cleanup during the year. My condolences to the person or persons who counted everything afterwards! LOL
