I agree totally with camera use, it is not a cash grab. Living on Atherley road in a condo we see speeders all the time. Other towns are using them and getting excelent results.
So get the plows out and put the blades on the road even during the day , dont wait till it gets hard packed. Difference between highway and orillia is night and day
If u speed pay the fine, school zones and safety zones are better off to be 365 days a year so u don't forget. Some system has to be used to slow drivers down as the POLICE don't. Try living on Atherley rd as no inforcement
How about a bus station were the north lander can come and u can leave your car, also maybe we could have the Go Bus come and take you to Barrie to catch Go Train
Dennis Woodman, I don't recall saying anything about being more important than any other area with concerns. We all would like the speed limit reduced. Speed limits are set for a reason. Safety, for pedestrians is one of them. Many children cross over the Atherley Road to go to Tudhope Park. We have witnessed many near misses, as well as several accidents.
If it wasnt bad enough we couldnt get gas at the stations as they dont have generators to pump the gas. The provence should mandate every gas station have a source to pump gas to people who still have to work etc.
Congratulations..I absolutely loved your book Wendy. Your characters were so real. I never stopped wanting to find out what happened to each family. A great read. Wendy Morgan (The Red Canoe)
We have spoken to Mr Cambell several times about wanting a camera in the area of Panaramac Point area due to people driving at high speeds. Reading this article it says close to the narrows. What happened to our section? Were we not represented with the phone calls we have made, as well as a letter to the Mayor and counsil. We are in a condo with 97 families.
still cant understand why the plough blade doesnt sit on the pavement and clean properly. Take a look at the highway crew that comes into orillia on Atherley road and turn around
its too bad orillia didnt follow suit as Atherley Rd is a speed way and nothing is being done about it. Hardly see any Police presence and when they pull some one over they give warning and watch them pull away
What a great article. Approximately 20 years ago, I was invited to meet with the club and do a Weekender Ladies Wear presentation. I met several "Newcomers," and several members became friends and customers. Now, I am looking forward to meeting Newcomers in February as one of the authors of The Red Canoe. Great organization. Sincerely Wendy Morgan
