The 30 year veteran LCBO worker (who incidentally makes north of $30.00 hr) ~ noted in the above article there will be job losses at convenience stores, since you have to be of age of majority to work there.......** GOOD GRIEF ** Talk about grasping at straws ~ 1) -- I don't think i've ever seen someone that's under 18 working there. 2) -- I'm pretty sure these Gen Z's have zero to little interest in working there anyways.

Folks that are against roundabout's have never travelled beyond the city limits. Get with the times people ............ less lights = less maintenance = $$$$ saved !!!

WOW ~ The city does a complete 360 on another outdated neanderthal policy, congrats to everyone who pushed for this ~ and yes i'll also include the birds and the bees !!

This comment from the above article had me nearly fall out of my chair laughing !!"Prior to the incident with the vehicle the city had already been working with engineers to determine the structural integrity of the two buildings in an effort to determine whether they could be salvaged or whether they would have to come down."Judging from the above photo ~ why waste any time and money talking to engineers ?? when the answer is clearly in the wrecking ball. People have a dim view of City Hall for this very reason.

GOOD GRIEF ~ So all this yelling and screaming could have been avoided by a logical and simple task of consulting the BIA beforehand ?? ~ I can now understand why people have such a dim view of City Hall !!

“It's not all about new business. It can't be. We also have to look after the businesses that are currently here and have them thrive so that they may choose to expand and evolve and grow,” Collin said.Well OK then ~ My first thought of what the city can do is ~ eliminate the paid parking disaster at the marina, as all it did was hurt the existing business's there or set up there. The out of town consultant that they paid was clearly wrong!! ~ just because it works in Toronto .... clearly doesn't work in Thunder Bay (as evidenced by the empty parking lots this past summer)

The bureaucracy involved in getting to this point surely can't be normal ~ can it ?? ~ I don't know just asking. How do other cities deal with it ??

Good Grief, they used to cram over 6 - 7,000 people at the Blues Fest every year and everyone survived the (so called) parking dilemma. Geez, after inhaling a bunch of food you'd think a bit of a walk would/could do your wonderful figure some good.

The City and it's neanderthal/punitive parking policy just killed off the last two remaining business's at the waterfront train station, which will now remain totally EMPTY for the foreseeable future. !! (just like the park itself) ~ Tough to remain positive when business's are seemingly swimming uphill against a City Hall that doesn't appear to know what it is doing.

Consultant reports must show not only a current but future demand, before these chains decide to spend millions !! Very positive .........

Quote from the above article ~ "So far, it's not a horrible pothole season". ?? Seriously was this intended to be a joke. ?Personally i'd like to see the Python and/or crews run an extra shift at the very least, or maybe 24/7 if possible, because obviously we're seeing two different movies here.

I vote for AI (artificial intelligence) to have a seat on council. For those that use it or have used it know what i'm talking about. It's an emerging technology and doesn't always get things right, BUT neither do overpaid councillors.

From the article ~ Hamilton calls himself a pro-business candidate who will help fight the challenges facing small businesses. OK let's start there ...... Wasn't it Hamilton who spearheaded and was instrumental with the implementation of the punitive paid parking situation which turned into a business killing debacle ??? The City just single highhandedly killed the last two remaining two business's whom used to occupy at the train station, at the "once vibrant" waterfront. How does this correlate into being a pro business candidate ??

Many homeowners will be stuck with excess blue bags. So my question is ~ Can these blue bags be now used as garbage bags ??

The spent fuel will be shipped in indestructible steel rods. You could deliberately drive the truck off a cliff and absolutely NOTHING would happen !! Unlike a lot of dangerous substances being driven on our roads today and yet no one bats an eyelash.

The city will quickly find out ~ No one is going to *pay* to skate!

It would be a fantastic venture if someone could/would set up a souvenir shop (similar to the one at the airport, where tourists could buy tee shirts, photos, maple syrup, and other trinkets etc. to take home with them for even more publicity. BUT thanks to City Hall with all it's restrictions and neanderthal policies placed on business down at the waterfront, it would be understandable why/if no one goes down there! ~ Unless things change ~ it's (another) missed opportunity!!

The people of Thunder Bay have spoken and with the current paid parking situation have now boycotted the waterfront altogether. I predict when the parking revenue numbers come out they will reflect what the empty parking lots have been saying since the meters were implemented. The City first needs to figure out on how to rectify the disastrous parking policy and re examine the punitive fees they charge small business's to make the waterfront more attractive, the rest of the proposed plan would simply be icing.

Why wasn't there any foresight on the cumbersome size of the bins ? A homeowner could easily exchange a large bin for a smaller one half the size.
