Everyone I know and have communicated with on travel to the USA says they will not step foot one inch into the thankless hostile government land of the USA. I and others will not subject ourselves to interrogation by armed border gauds with powers to search, seize, and jail us for however long they want. And the USA government is hostile to Canadians the more hostile the MAGA supporters will be. NO Thanks to travel into what was once respectful, thankful USA. Not a dime from me, and not buying any USA goods or services here in Canada. As our prime minister said - our relationship with the USA will never be the same.
Bravo for the fact, experience based letter. Time to stop this destructive TBay police service feeding frenzy, The Board, Chief and Officers are hard at work correcting previously stated deficiencies as best possible with the resources available. I recall former MP and Cabinet Minister Bill Mauro being attacked for stating that TBay policing was being singled-out with many others in Canada were facing the same issues; he was an remains correct. Hopefully this new inspector will report good progress is being made, let them do the job and stop the silly and dare I say race based politics, all it does is make a few lawyers wealthy, and a few politicians get ink time.
Trump vowed to destroy Canada economically and then annex it as the 51st State. I will never give the USA or its businesses another dime, the USA destroyed what was once a friendly, respectful, friendship. No disrespect to the folks at Ryden's and others in MN but the USA destroyed our good relationship and should now accept that we no longer give you our business.
The homeless are the real victims. Justin Trudeau and the Premiers and now Councils have made this public policy mess/crisis. Stop blaming the VICTIMS.
Unfortunately, the city sanitation dept. has a few bad apples, and they need to be addressed. The rest should be applauded for their great work on our behalf.
Good on Admin and the Mayor, this is desperately needed NOW. Lives are on the line and not doing this or more is complicity in the cause of death. And it has to be right in the city near transportation, services, etc. these are human beings not animals.
Good on Pepe and Bowles for being caring, compassionate, learned members of our community and proposing constructive approaches to help address the real issues. Shame on others, including council members who have little to no understanding of what is really happening in a transformative TBay and Canadaland.
City Council and the Parking Authority/Admin are destroying downtown PA, the businesses and attractiveness of the Marina. It is not only the parking costs and convenience, but also changes to the roadway on RR Road and Court Street which reduce parking spaces near businesses, increase the costs, and make traffic more difficult to navigate. I now just stay away, far away.
The moment our political leaders ignore or trample upon people's human rights we are in deep trouble and all of us are diminished. Rights are Rights are Rights, they are not negotiable. and must be respected, protected, cherished. People's rights in this situation are not the problem or challenge. Stop blaming the homeless for their challenges, they need help. Are the mayor and council members not capable of realizing this?
I agree, and would add that I will not spend my time trying to download an app to park in TBay. If I cannot simply put money in a meter I am gone to somewhere else. And, I also agree that people, especially seniors, who have paid taxes all their lives, should not have to pay for parking to enjoy a few of their precious times on our waterfront. WAKE-UP COUNCIL
Does this MP paolowski not realize that the two former cities amalgamated into a unified city of Thunder Bay in 1970, and the city of Thunder Bay administration decided on two sies in the former Ft. William downtown that would be best to house these facilities? His going back to the differences between the two former cities is not helping anyone, and is rather harming the most vulnerable. Shame on him.
No doubt Americans are also feeling the bite of Trump's USA tariffs on their own bank accounts and are hunkering down for a needless economic storm-war. All I know and control is that I do not see myself travelling to the USA until they start consistently showing us Canadians some well earned respect and appreciation for all we have done for/with them over the generations. Viva Canada!
That is the message Finance Minister Freeland delivered, Trudeau and the Liberals were putting party interests ahead of the interest of Canada; on ethics she resigned. Canadians have seen through this one, and are changing their government - no matter what. Justin skiing and contemplating his own future instead of working for the future of Canada says it all. Game Over!!
I avoid that area year round, especially since the city recently redid Court St. south of Red River Road - too narrow and congested, much like Algoma Street between Bay and Cornwall. I have refused to meet people for coffee in those areas due to driving and parking issues; voting with my steering wheel and tires.
