Yes they are not our enemies across the border. But they elected this dufus and we need to fight back. We can only do it by hurting them unfortunately. We do that by shopping Canada and not go to Rydens or the Casino there. . We do that by not letting those Americans south of the border have free and unfettered access to their properties in Canada - ie the lodge owners - and businessmen have to follow more stringent entrance rules including what they are bringing north - ie booze, cigarettes etc. We need to make sure that we support our elected officials who are putting similar tariffs on the Americans even if it hurts us now. We also need to ensure that we start to take steps to rely less on the markets to the south even if it costs us a bit more (ie purchasing of supplies for our hospitals, businesses and government services. And this includes Musk
So city administration after paying to move this beast around - through absolute negligence allows this to sink - and then pays to move it after salvaging it at great expense. Now instead of fulfilling the purpose for which it was brought here in the first place are going to scrap it. Now if I was a conspiracy theorist - maybe the negligent sinking of it was by design??? I sometimes wonder if this city management staff can do anything in a cost efficient manner or if they are nothing but a bunch of bumbling mismanagers.
100 % agree -- in many cases - and not all - but we are in Ontario are suffering from the shutting down of the psychiatric hospitals Three forces drove the movement of people with severe mental illness from hospitals into the community: the belief that mental hospitals were cruel and inhumane; the hope that new antipsychotic medications offered a cure; and the desire to save money. Many results included police calls, People on the street and a large segment of disenfranchised people with no place to go execept on the street ( and some who dont want to or cant cope with shelters). Add in the current and most recent fentanyl problems and here we are.
Makes one wonder about the news organizations - not that I am a Liberal or Trudeau lover - But. There was supposedly 80,000 plus eligible voters in that Toronto riding - and only 36,000 showed up - which is typical for a bye-election and only 15,000 for the Con winner and 500 behind for the liberal - with a crazy number fringe people running - So how does this prove anything about anything - other than maybe the Liberal election machine was not up to par. But to draw any conclusion is kind of misrepresenting the whole election issue. But that seems to be what is happening with all news organizations all around the world.
Watching the Railroad strike and the stuff on those cars that are critical to our everyday life especially chlorine and other deadly chemicals and gases that treat our water and are critical to our industry makes me wonder. Nuclear rods encased in concrete and steel containers are not dangerous compared to the above. So most transportation arguments are false.
What a bunch of dufus's are running both our city and are in the city council. Once again a whole bunch of frittering away time and money. The perfect site on the Cumberland site - next to the Salvation army with overflow across the street to the big field there. This site could have been cleared and made ready already - and wont take much time even at this late date.
OMG - they already screwed up the par 4 along Balmoral - making it a Par 3 because they couldnt /wouldnt maintain the netting - and other courses dont even have netting. Now a vary vary rare incident occurs and a whole bunch or ranting and raving is going on. ?????
You are incorrect Ms Solomon - the voices have been heard many times over - those directly affected have been consulted and even had a vote. Now as far a. s those along the transportation route - that is the biggest fat red herring ever thrown out there. You must be living under a rock and should be better informed about what is passing through not only your community ( aka the number of tanker trucks hauling gasoline and fuel into all your service stations weekly) and the City of Thunder Bay - besides fuel there is acid going into pulp mills - there are explosives going to mines and highway construction projects and many other dangerous chemicals and gases. These spend rods are in concrete and steel indistructible containers that do not emit radiation. These are proven facts. If I were you - I would be more concerned that the service stations on FWFN are compliant with the proper training and get to ensure if an incident occurs that they can handle it.
HOw come when somebody complains on Newswatch about this lady voting on things such as Hillcourt ( which is in some matter related to real estate) she should declare a conflict - it doesn't get posted????
NOT STUNT DRIVING - excessive speeding . Please Ontario change the terminology. I prefer BC's definition - much more appropriate :Stunt driving is when a driver deliberately: - Loses traction - Spins their tires- Drives into oncoming traffic- Prevents other vehicles from passing--Drives too close to other vehicles"""Excessive speeding----The Motor Vehicle Act defines excessive speeding as driving at a speed greater than 40 km an hour over the speed limit.. The faster you drive, the higher the fine...""""
I am starting to wonder whether this Auditor's office is becoming a political being. I mean I thought that the Auditor was to ensure that the province's money was handled in an appropriate manner - ie a fiscal audit. """ the audit of the accounts of which the Auditor General is required to direct or review or in respect of which the auditor’s report and the working papers used in the preparation of the auditor’s statement are required to be made available to the Auditor General under any other Act,"""The persons appointed as Auditor General and Deputy Auditor General shall be persons who are licensed under the Public Accounting Act, 2004""" This should mean an accountant not a social worker???
Too close to the Mall, too close to the LCBO - as if there has not been enough issues rescuing people from the water - which is on both sides. Too close to event held at CLE grounds - need I go on. The best site is still the old LPH grounds
Minority rule - bad people dont pay rent, bad people let drug dealers in their place, bad people dont follow normal and logical rules of residences and yet it takes over 6 months to evict. All because a few
As Mark Twain used to say. Statistics statisticians and damn liars. All this stuff is just trying to justify their point. The only real solution is to build the bypass. Yet the city and MTO wouldn't even put the warning lites on the expressway when heading south and there has been accidents because trucks cannot stop and blow the light. Leave things as they are and work on the proper long term diversion.
I bet that those who are recommending charging for parking are going to be very very happy. Sometimes one wonders - who is leading who. Hope that they defer parking fees for this event.
Time for Ken Boscoff to use his strong Mayor powers. It is time for Lucy and the others from out here to canvas Holland - he knows the issues intimately and will see the folly in this.
Blah blah blah blah blah - and of course there will always be a whole bunch of NIMBY's - and once again just look at the abandoned buildings just sitting there many with the basic infrastructure - ie water sewers bathrooms - such as closed schools, long term care buildings and underused old motels . But we get a bunch of blah blah blah - same as we run the squatters and RV's out of the old Canadian Tire parking lot and now all we have is dust and garbage blowing around the asphalt - what an ideal place for a tent city - or a place to drag in a bunch of bunkhouses as used in the mining and logging industry
