Simple - he should have resigned instead of making excuses for himself and blaming the system. He is a senior system and he doesn't know right from wrong ? Give me a break. This man, IMO, is ethically and morally bankrupt and should not be in a position of trust !

You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear Mr Vanthof. Better highways does not equate to better drivers; we will still be plagued by poorly trained transport drivers trying to get as many miles in their day and driving poorly maintained clunkers. We all know what the real problems are.....

This "Old Boys Club" did not start last night, it has been in operation since the inception of North Bay, but became more prevalent in the fifties' and sixties' when the town operated in very dubious circumstances. Nothing has changed since then and is not about to change now !

It's up to city council to re-evaluate the per diem for travel, lodging and meals. For now, follow the rules ! PS - It may be time for the city to evaluate the importance to the taxpayers for some of these conferences by having the attendees write a request outlining the benefits of said conferences to the city and it's people.
