You can't deal directly with Trump. He's a loon. The government has to deal with his cabinet secretaries. We need to ratchet up tariffs, especially on power and minerals, let the U.S. feel the pain, and have the cabinet secretaries absorb the anger of Trump every day. Then we can negotiate. I'm wanting for Carney or Poilievre to say that.
Same radical policy clowns that advised McGuinty, and brought Ontario's economy to a halt, went to Ottawa to advise Trudeau and helped deep-six Canada's economy for the next 10 years.
So Ford says this is a municipal "cash grab" yet successions of provincial governments kept downloading more programs onto cities and towns and onto local taxpayers. Yet Ford portrays himself as some kind of tax-fighting champion. Leave the cameras where they are. Don't pick a fight where there isn't one.
Man on the street interviews always make for interesting and frank answers. Disappointing that our American neighbours aren't grateful for the amount of money Canadians spend eating, drinking, gassing up, shopping, playing golf and camping in their state.
I see nothing here from Shoemaker on how the city plans to attract doctors. All we know is he doesn't like financial incentives. Timmins, a smaller city, has a doctor recruitment/retention committee involving the city and hospital, each putting up $200,000 a year over three years, with a donation from a mining company, to bring 30 doctors to town. But the mayor wants big government to stop the practice. The doctor shortage is kind of a big thing. But we can't and won't compete in the Soo. We are a city bereft of ideas and lacking in will.
Hope this isn't true. A good part of Sault Mich's economy over the years and the growth of its outlet stories comes from Canadian shoppers. If it is happening, I would think it would be on the store's security cam footage, if it is being reported to police.
Nah, nah, hey, hey, goodbye. My gawd, you shoulda been around in the 1970s to 1990s, the mutants at the Windsor "Barn," Biker Bob at the London Gardens, the first row of knuckledraggers behind the visitors bench at the Kitchener Aud. When these guys turn pro, from the NHL to the ECHL, they'll hear much, much worse. I think you're more sensitive than the players are.
Same old political mantra from 20-30 years ago, creating more public sector casino jobs to fill the mausoleum on Bay Street. Sitting at the head of the Great Lakes, on the Canadian Shield, with railway and highway connections and these are the best ideas we have.
