Russia has a very radical and strong leader. Are Russians better off? It's great if you're an Oligarch I suppose. The rest of them don't have much say in determining their own fates - its "do what you're told or be killed".

In the year 2000 the average home price in Canada was about 3.5 times the median family income. In 2023 that ratio has increased to 10.8. So relative to income, the price of homes has increased 300% since 2000. No wonder so many can't afford to buy a home.

Also, people complain that Chinese EV manufacturing is heavily subsidized by government.Well, guess what? It is here too. Look at all the billions the Feds and the Province are "investing" in new vehicle and battery plants.

Why would anything change? The Leafs are a cash cow. Fans spend the money win or lose. The ownership isn't likely to spend the money necessary to build a winning team when they can make just as much money with a bunch of losers.

Popular vote is irrelevant in Canada. Both the Liberals and the Conservatives are happy to keep it that way.Interesting to note that neither party came anywhere close to a "majority" in the common sense of the word.

CP could never have been cost competitive with private parcel delivery services - the labour costs are far too high, and the workers won't work Saturdays and Sundays. Private sector delivery services employing "contactors" or gig workers operate delivery trucks at about 1/4 the cost of Canada Post and half the cost of Purolator, which is owned by Canada Post.Sears is a long saga, it is a gross over-simplification to just call it bad management. https://www.investopedia.com/news/downfall-of-sears/

Nothing is "free". And this debate has been going on for decades. The survey should ask: "who do you think should pay for downtown parking?"Mall merchants pay for their customers to park. Why shouldn't downtown merchants? Why should it be on my tax bill?

We must travel in different places. Free parking is the exception, not the norm most places these days. Certainly most places south of us u til you cross the US border. Kincardine? A more appropriate comparison would be Barrie.Frankly, I'd rather have the cost of parking be paid by parking fees than have it tacked onto my property taxes. My taxes don't pay for the parking lot at Walmart or Zehrs, why should they pay for parking lots downtown or at the waterfront? I spend far more at Orillia businesses than any visitor.

The Tories would "blast" Trudeau if he clipped his toenails, so what's new?Sorry, but lavish, swanky and Sudbury just doesn't seem to add up.

Molsons should step up with some cash for the rec centre - we saved them tens of millions in remediation costs when we got bilked into accepting the property as a gift.

The $13,000 figure is not really accurate. That's what the car sells for in China, the only place you can get it at that price. Its also sold in Mexico and Brasil but at a much higher price - US$20,000 (CA$27000). They intend to sell it in Europe starting next year at a price of approximately $20,000 Euros (CA$30,000). I expect tarrifs plus mark-ups will bring the price well over CA$35,000 if it comes to Canada. Still, not unattractive compared to other available cars.Volvo Cars (a company that pretends to be Swedish but is 100% owned by a Chinese company) is able to import a China-made SUV called the EX30 and avoid tariffs because it also manufactures other vehicles in the USA. The price-point is US$35,000, which is very cheap compared to other SUVs especially Volvo's other vehicles.
