I think its dangerous to assume things will all go back to "normal" in another 3 years.I think we're dealing with a President who has belligerent intentions towards Canada and is constantly looking for excuses to escalate. The big rant is nothing more than a huge mis-direction to take peoples' mind of the other disasters unfolding under his "leadership". Health care, housing, environment, education etc.Electing judges sounds great, but what does it really mean? It means Ford wants to politicize the appointment of judges to bring it under his control and to turn it into a partisan battleground. Just like it is in the US. Just like he's trying to do with strong mayor powers - another copy of dysfunctional US institutions. There's no benefit to the community, only to big money who want to control everything and who use Doug Ford as their populist front man.In general judges do an excellent job working in an antiquated, overloaded and grossly under-resourced justice system that cannot possibly deliver what its supposed to. Partisan politics will not fix this.
