This is not a windfall but rather an example of poor performance by staff. There is no savings but rather the cost was less than they projected and budgeted for.

The Board chair deferred most questions and promised to get back on many, including “how did this happen”! Please follow up on this issue of importance to the community. This is a massive failure that will cost all citizens and requires answers as to how it happened, who knew what and when etc. I would support a third party review as some councillors suggested.

SooTodayThe city solicitor,Ms Fields, raised the issue of someone living in a First Nation community as being potentially systemic discrimination not someone who lived out of town in general. Council made the right decision tonight thanks to the Mayor clarifying we would not want someone who resided in Toronto or Ottawa holding a senior management role.
