Residents, please take a drive down Court Street, the entrance to Mc Vickers Creek to be exact. The garbage piled up at the entrance is beyond "slum like". It's something the tourists don't want to see in the middle of the North Ward. It's too bad that council members and others who supply provisions for this encampment just bury their heads in the sand......what will be their move when the whole area is infested with RATS?? Trust me it won't be long..Thoroughly discusting.
And......the cost of for the "leased property" will be??????? What's the matter with a city owned vacant plot of land? Will they be putting signs up along the creeks and parks directing them to the "new area"? Something like no over-night camping might work, which i really don't see happening or being enforced. I don't know how many agree with me that the city has lots of money to pay for their "tunnel vision"
The city has lots of money for "pet projects" plus hand-outs to various groups who have come up short. There are lots of people looking for work........... part time with no benefits even.............. I don't get it. Remember the votes next election.
Also note that they buy very little when they get here. Booze and gas from Ryden's, groceries from home. I think the government should review the cost of fishing licences for non-residents. A few bucks more in Canada's pocket won't hurt.
Read the story. It clearly states that the child was across the street at the neighbours for a sleep-over, The mother of the child where the sleep-over was at called the parents of the girl immediately and informed her parents who ran out of the house at attend to her. Their house is located across the street, No babysitters were involved!
None of them have really any experience - Christa Freeland had zero experience as finance minister - where are her finance credentials? Same with LeBlanc, Politics are who you know not what you know.........you get on the job training.
Totally agree. I think the one that brought this up (AF) was worried the most, The look on his face was like a scared puppy. I would have liked to have seen something done with the ward maps, but Thunder Bay hates change, so I guess we're stuck with it.
I wrote an email to all council members and the mayor on June 12th. asking them to drive by the "new tourist attraction" at the Court St. entrance to McVickers Creek. I asked them to drive or walk by and give me their thoughts. What is there is a portable washroom.. . I asked for some discretion and that it be moved away from the entrance, Maybe further down the creek. Surprise, surprise!! Not one reply and that "tourist attraction" is still there today July 2. I guess they're all afraid to take the bull by the horns.
The Canadian dollar exchange is a deterrent for us also. Averaging around $41.50 for $100 US is certainly not a "let's travel to the US. selling point Along with our feelings towards the US government. I doubt if we'll see harmony between the two countries for a long time.
If a group wants the tug, I suggest giving it to them at No Cost....let them worry about what they want to save, how to do it, and where to place it. They are all volunteers and probably have the know how to restore it. All I can say regarding council is -remember their names when the next election comes along. Our tax dollars are spinning in a bottomless pit.
