LCBO confirms strike over, stores will reopen Tuesday

I wonder:1) Has the union priced themselves out of the market place? or 2) Given people a chance to try different shopping options (e.g. new outlets, on-line shopping) for their liquor who will not switch back to the LCBO?

The poll shouldn't HAVE included ecstasy, it would HAVE been an entire different outcome."of" and "have" may sound the same in some dialects but are not the same.

All tenants should join Charles McKay in his "withholding rent" initiative - but make sure the rent is in a separate bank account so you can prove the money is available when needed. With zero monthly income Michael Klein (or whomever the landlord is) will have to come out into the open.Go Tenants Go.

Lots of garbage talk here. The city agreed to "sell" Guelph Hydro to Alectra before calculating the total impact on the residents. A typical government ploy. Tell everyone there are no increase costs in this plan, then slapping extra taxes (sorry - user fees) on that is outside their control.Even a high school student knows that separating shared convenience to individual payers will cost each more money.

Many of the media polls are poorly worded, seemingly giving only those options the media want to report on!I agree with you that we should gear up to produce for those most susceptible and let the trucker supporters do what they want.Maybe, only produce enough for those whose accepted the COVID vaccine program (three doses).

Whether it is judges or elected representatives - making of new controversial laws or controversial changes to laws is dependent on party politics.Who appoints the judges? Federal Government = Current Political Party.Who allows laws to be past? Federal, Provincial or Municipal governments = Current Political Party. The only way to get The People to have a say is to bring in an Impeachment Law allowing elected representatives to be removed from office if they are not listening to The People.

I have to agree with the artists. They were paid to put together an exhibit after discussing it with the city, they did that and installed it. The city made a mistake by not stating what was or was not allowed in the exhibit.Censorship definition - the suppression or removal of writing, artistic work, etc. that are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security (from Google & Oxford Languages - part of Oxford University Press, the publisher of the Oxford English Dictionary).Danna Evans says "the City’s intention was not to censor the artists". Removing part of the exhibit before consulting with the artists was clearly censorship.

Location suggests no vehicle required.Buses to UOG hub and soon to be Conestoga college almost across the street.Groceries available from 3 to 12 min walk, or 30 minutes to Zehrs Eramosa (or a direct bus from Guelph Central Station within a 2 min walk). Other buses from GCS go to many other grocery stores, malls and hardware stores. Many people, living on or next to a transit hub do not own vehicles. They can be rented for summer vacations out of the city - a 7 minute walk..

From what I read...You wish the homeless to be "apart of society"; do you mean "apart from society" - a Freudian slip? You want them to be "somewhere else"; would that be in another city or just well away from you?

An aside in this new bylaw is the mayor's plan to increase the 2026 budget (so the city can "give out assistance for removing graffiti") rather than reduce it as he said he would. Also, the Mayor's list includes "empty downtown buildings, Canada Post boxes and utility poles, as well as bridges and other infrastructure".From this list I see a few problems.1) How will the mayor make a federal government organisation (whether direct or indirectly controlled) clean up their property (boxes, bridges and/or poles) or pay his fines?2) How will the mayor make a provincial government organisation (whether direct or indirectly controlled) clean-up their property (bridges and/or poles) or pay the fines?3) How will the mayor make a large private corporation clean-up their property (bridges and/or poles) or pay the fines?Looks like he will be putting pressure on local small businesses to cover costs.MORE CITY TAXES.

SLEDD SEZ: 1) Look up the word. Absolutely correctly used.2) Read the story. The authorities - in this case the police - forced him to apply to the LTB (who only act for Landlords and Tenants), labelling him a small landlord.

Why reject an experienced councillor for a short-term role when the alternative is someone who "owns property in Guelph". Under this provision, a property owner may live close enough to Guelph to attend council meetings, but have little or no experience of the city, its problems or its possibilities.

Sounds like the university is on the side of those who took the comment to suggest the professor wanted Trump injured.I took it as - he was lucky to survive, as the professor later explained to all those fearmongering.Maybe a qualifier was all that was missing "... to save a life".

I agree that this would be an "Ideal location for the students going to Conestoga College". However, city planning has to be taken jnto consideration or we will have something similar to downtown Toronto appearing in downtown Guelph. This is not NIMBYism, this is not allowing corporate steamrolling in our city.

The federal and provincial governments spend millions of dollars every years on frivolous or wasteful political projects (40% increase in federal staffing since Trudeau was elected; McGuinty's Billion dollar Gas Plant fiasco, so he could get re-elected; the new 413 highway that will not save more than a few minutes; early introduction of convenience store booze) but they cannot support Canadian seniors to keep these homes open. Where is Doug Ford and his "more senior beds" promise now?

All the negative comments about speed cameras and here we have proof (excluding the ticketing and fines involved) that "Big Brother Watching" makes drivers stick to the speed limits!Obviously there are too many drivers out there who do not care for traffic laws. This is a far less expensive way than having police on the streets watching for these scoff-laws!

From the report it looks like these people will get everything paid for without the residents contributing some of their government cheque to support themselves! The 10 Shelldale group have just been approved for $9 million operating costs over three years for 32 units - with all the support services. The city staff may have under estimated annual operating costs! There is no wonder that Joe Public has to pay high income taxes.

Why are we talking federal justice rules and regulations when Doug Ford is ranting like a spoiled child because an injunction issued to stop his interference in Toronto city policies (bike lanes) has upset him.Doug wants to rule everywhere, the judge says he is not allowed to. If he wants to get involved in city politics then he should resign as premier and run for city councillor.END OF STORY.For the Editor - your article states "the full clip is in the video above" which is then followed by a link to the video BELOW the statement.

For three years York Road has been shutdown at different points and local streets have been flooded with traffic due to this ongoing construction. For three years the city staff have been deluged with residents complaints about traffic on "once quiet streets" AND STILL THEY CANNOT LEARN. Now it is the turn of the Edinburgh/College neighbourhoods. Then we had the fiasco of the 40kph signage, which still is not correct everywhere, and a death at Willow and Edinburgh where the city dithered for two years - installed additional 60kph signs, before installing 50kph at the intersection. What a shambles Guelph city management has become! It is not the politicians making these mistakes its the staff, who we - the public - have to rely on to make decent decisions and do good planning and LEARN from their mistakes.

Time the university gave priority to first year students (wherever they come from) than to third year + students from abroad. After two years in residence students should have the knowledge of the city enough to arrange accommodation for themselves away from residences. Student housing department should be able to assist them too - if that is what this department does.
