Poll: Conservatives eager for an early federal election

And you think Pierre is better? Axe the tax, bully everyone. That is not Canada. Yes Trudeau needs to go but Pierre will be a disaster.

Sorry just because he has decided to retire from being Mayor I am not going to give him accolades. Under his leadership the City of Guelph became over congested because of uncontrolled growth for a city that cannot support the current density. An incredible consecutive number of tax increases. Complete mismanagement of road infrastructure. Lack of sustainable vision for the future of the city. Being here for 30 years the past 10 years I have never seen such mismanagement.

Not a fan of Trudeau, but please tell me exactly how Pierre will be better? He has never had a policy, every single thing he says is a slogan? More importantly he is a hypocrite, since he has always been a career politician, stand to have the biggest pension of all leaders, benefits from the housing cost since he owns rentals, and last he was a major MP in both Harpers governments and you think things started with the Liberals. What I am angry about is you think this guy is better.

yes because Pierre will save us with his slogans and no actual solutions. Please tell me one???

yes of course we are. He isn't promising the moon since he has not said at all how he will solve any problems, he just says he will. We will get a Con majority and the next 4 years, Canadian will vote them out. This is the same group that is Alberta focused, Scheer is the house leader, Pierre is a perennial has been from Harper and we just get a complete mess. So shame on voters

The City of Guelph council has completely lost its way. There are so many other priorities that this council should be 100% focused on. This is a complete waste of time and resources. Our municipal taxes continue to increase exponentially, services are degrading, we here every excuse from this group as to why they cannot solve any issues and blame all other levels of government. I am both angry and appalled at the behavior and what they think is priorities for Guelph. Here some free suggestions council and it doesn't come with a tax increase. Learn to spend within your budget, stop wasting our money, start enforcing existing bylaws and attempt to alleviate congestion, ridiculous traffic and uncontrolled cost and growth.

So the voters of Guelph feel he wasn't the best choice to represent them at council and the mayor hires him????

100% correct. Council and staff either do not get it or do not care. Its the latest buzzword at all levels. Build more houses will magically reduce cost which will never happen. Its the appearance of doing something with the exact same outcome. We will just have more unaffordable houses.

There is no possible way that PP will make everything more affordable unless he actually subsidizes housing costs and other consumer goods. Inflation is a global problem which all governments are grappling with. Cost of housing is a complex problem that was decades in the making and is not the result of one government. Speculation, Covid and zero interest rates made cost unrealistic. Prices are not going down regardless of which party gets elected . signed unsensible

At what point in society did we decide that bylaws are absolute law. Maybe the city of Guelph can start thinking out of the box and use some common sense. Nothing is black and white and bylaws are written by people and are not necessarily objective. We had the ridiculous situation with the bike lady etc. Funny that skip the dishes and Amazon drivers illegally park everywhere in the city and yet go unpunished. So by the letter of the law should they all be ticketed?

says it all from Barrie. Well that coalition which includes the Bloc was the majority of Canadians not the Conservatives. It drives me crazy with any party when they think everyone should think like them.

Sorry Adam but its got nothing to do with nostalgia, many of us just don't want uncontrolled growth. I moved to Guelph in the 90s because it was easy to get around, I use to ride all over before we had bike lanes and have little fear of traffic. You know growth doesn't equal progress it just means growth. Guelph was never designed to support the population we now have so now we have continuous congestion, unsustainable tax increases. Why do some move to a location and want to change it from what it is? If you want uncontrolled growth? Why not move to Milton or even Waterloo? Also ironic mentioning biking to Ribfest well maybe an event past its shelf life?

well said.... I will never vote for Poly who is such an obnoxious person, however we can only blame the Libs for why so many will either not vote for them or vote for the big con. They are 100% hypocrites.

What a complete waste of my and your money. We need to change how municipal government works. This is a classic example of make work project for employees using tax money. Why are is this even being done? No accountability and all of us pay for it. Are you happy that there was a property tax increase for things like this????

What really bothers me about these constant increases is that no one in government is doing anything to change it. They all blame everyone else as in the Provincial Government or this board or that County but never do anything. Why isn't council lobbying with other municipalities to change how we fund various services? Why is the city of Guelph funding several smaller municipalities within Wellington County? This needs to be rezoned/restructured. Why are we funding almost a million $ to a downtown business association? Like many of you I am thoroughly disappointed with the entire council but not because they have no power to change things, but because they are not trying to change some very fundamental and outdated funding structures which all municipalities are dealing with. So yes please vote all of them out so hopefully the next group gets the message we need change not blame and excuses.

It amazes me that when some individuals get in a car and they think they own trafficways. These are these the same people who never bike or walk, do not obey traffic laws and yes speed. Must live in a very narrow view of the world.

Charge the owner end of story. This is ridiculous that this has not been resolved yet. As for the the animal control bylaw what a joke that is. Like everything else, if its not enforced nothing will change.

Its beyond belief how so called city engineering has a complete lack of strategic planning when it comes to infrastructure. Its also amazing how indifferent our elected officials are of real taxpayers concerns. Stop blaming Guelphites for poorly planned projects. I have not seen the city this mis-managed since we had the Walmart gang. Guelph was never designed for the population growth we have now. So what we get is ill-conceived direction with "pie in the sky" densification which is only causing the city to become an ever increasing cement and highrise landscape which will never reduce the cost of housing. Poorly planned bike lanes and the list just goes on. I encourage fellow Guelphites to have a hard look at who is the acting Mayor and council and remember them in 2025. Its time for all of them to go.

Finally something that makes sense for downtown. The only way the core will thrive is with mixed residential.
