Of course the mayor considered it a success. He has the same attitude as Trump. Everything he does is not for the people or Orillia, it is for his ego. That money he conned from local residents in the middle of summer was a disgrace. Using the excuse it is for the kids which is malarky. .

Nice to live in a townhouse and retired. Some people have babies that need to be fed, washed, dressed and delivered to baby sitter and do all that while clearing snow and really don't have time to chew the fat with the other retired neighbour who doesn't have to go anywhere. So no not all have time to do the neighbour helping neighbour thing.

Supposedly caught one teenager doing 100 klm. But of course the mayor was a perfect angel all his life. Never had a ticket..right??

This is not a new norm. It is the norm other than a few of the past winters have been lighter. Thirty or more years ago we always expected snow anytime after halloween. ///The subject of the city and clearing the streets with proper equipment will not get any better until you vote the correct people in to run the city and stop voting for a name.

I can't believe Orillia would tag a unit like the outreach that was there to help homeless and anyone else that needed it. As for downtown parking they should eliminate all the meters on the main drag, no traffic allowed, and let people walk and shop to their hearts content.

A Volvo of that vintage was made In Sweden or Belgium and cost considerably more than any North American made car for many reasons but mainly because it was better made. Stronger, safer, better on fuel. Even compared to today's cars, a 20 year old Volvo would be less to maintain as it was much better made. The pot hole took out the woman's front end of her car, period Don't blame the woman or the car, pay the bill that the city owes.

When I first got married my 2 bedroom apartment was 100 bucks a month. The little shack I'm in now costs better than 500 bucks in taxes a month before I open my eyes. If you add all the extras like heat, hydro and that expensive water that they feed us, then how is the future going to live in a home, when you throw a mortgage payment on top. The only way you can get ahead is to have a job at city hall or the opp and that way you can vote yourself an increase each year to cover the high taxes. We all are responsive for the mess we are in so when it is time for a change, vote them out..

Paid parking will not work other than aggravate the odd person as the cost to enforce outspends the actual amount gained. Besides the city is happy now with the cash grab that has hit our streets and are already looking for places to spend that money. Money that in some cases would have been given to our new hospital fund.

Unless you owned a major oil company or gas or a castle where your heat bill was excessive,, then most Canadians would get back more than they paid in. As for the scammers online, I believe anyone that gives away money to an app, deserves the experience, Heck even a handshake is long gone from our past as a secure deal.

There will always be people that bring booze to the park, the same way they booze and drive. The park is for the kids and families to swim and enjoy the day, not for an old boozers. That is what bars are for. And yes there was kids with booze in their back packs but hopefully they will one day be an upstanding citizen. cough.......
