Stop playing his games. If you want this dodo to stop it must come to a climax immediately.Give 7 days notice the border will be closed because Trump says it's insecure. (just like him)For the sake of National security in Canada we must close ALL the doors for 7 days to re-access the situation and we'll be in touch in a week....Have a Nice Day !Everybody gets a weeks warning and everyone takes a week off to think about it.The solution will evolve by itself.

Let me point out the obvious. The City gives developers and factories thousands in concessions to come to Orillia.Just like Barrie gave XXX-Brewery the land & a tax free incentive for 10 years.Yet....The City of Orillia charges a small business to setup shop in downtown by taxing them before they even open the doors. In order to get a sign permit one must pay for a zoning permit first $$$, thenapply for a sign permit at a minimum of $50 bucks $$$, thenif the sign is over 3 meters it is $10 more per meter $$$, thenyou also have to get a sign variance at a cost of $500.00 bucks for over sized signs, thenyou can apply for a building permit if you want to do anything else $$$$.That's your idea of simple?

Welcome to OrilliaA City with absurd by-laws...prioritized.The City of Orillia has become a joke on a National level, thanks to Jimmy Fallon.Lets make the oblivious become the obvious.Way too many consultants are being paid instead of staff earning their salaries. Please explain who made these by-laws and why.2 pages "Firearms-Regulation"5 pages "Graffiti"7 pages "Smoking & Vaping" 10 pages "Noise" .....................................Please explain who is protected and when?11 pages "Dog License" ..........................why not a bylaw for cats?14 pages "Smoking in public"18 pages "Tree Conservation" 38 pages "Business Licensing"45 pages "Signs"49 pages "Vehicle for hire"188 pages "Traffic & Parking"Why would any business come to Orillia ?Now you know why parking is top priority & far more dangerous than your guns.Perhaps it would be easier to just put up signs stating "NO PARKING IN ORILLIA"

87 employees is more than 8.7 million in wages. The real question is do you feel that you got 8.7 million worth of results from these 87 employees?

Mayor Chow announced weeks ago it costs $7,000 a month to keep a person in a shelter. It costs $150,000 a year to keep a person in prison, by your logic should we shut down the prisons as well?To respond to your comment, then what?

Why are the costs so high?Well, there area a couple reasons.OPP just ratified their contract to be the highest paid cops. The County just gave themselves a HUGE RAISE....CRIME HAS NOT BEEN REDUCED!HOMELESSNESS IS GETTING WORSE!When the OPP are called for service because of shop lifting at XXX-big box stores EVERY DAY, multiple times per day, 365 days a year.WHAT IS THAT COST?You are effectively paying a cop($130,000year) to be a mall cop.Essentially mall cops that are protecting at best a couple hundred bucks being stolen.Problem is shop lifting & homelessness has become "NORMAL" but more specifically is only going to get worse.Solution????Well,The problem isn't shop lifting or crime. The problem isn't homelessness. The problem isn't being addressed. If the individuals charged with the fiduciary duty to solve the problems of society fail to accomplish the task they should not be paid nor should they be given a raise.

Doctors are paid approx. $500 per hour to work in an after hours clinic setting. How far do you think half a million goes?Better yet how many people are actually assisted for that amount of money?I suggest you find out how much Doctor's are actually paid per hour before you agree.Follow the money...

What we really need is a vaccine to protect against stupidity. Now that would be a solution for societies problems.....Who do you think should be the first to be inoculated?

So the original purpose for the 1/2 million is no longer viable?Shouldn't the money be returned to the coffers of City Hall as it is no longer follows the original purpose and intent?Since when does a couple council members get to reallocate & disperse public money without any public input to a private clinic? Are you investing money into private clinics without any guarantees. Is this now a grant to a private clinic or a loan that gets paid back?

The problem isn't just paying the rent, nor is telling a story about bad tenants going to be a solution to a single landlords problems. If minimum wage does not meet the qualifications to rent an apartment that's a problem.Perhaps we should ban minimum wage as that seems to be the solution for homelessness in parks. We just write a new bylaw and ban homeless people from using the parks. We just simply ban minimum wage and poof the problem is gone. While your at it why don't you ban stupidity as well.Perhaps the only thing that needs to be banned is greed. How about banning the greedy slumlords?Paying obscene amounts of rent to live in a box that doesn't even meet property standards or fire code is a problem. It should not cost more per sq. ft. to rent an apartment than renting a commercial building.Soon you will need to be approved for a mortgage to go to the grocery store. Please explain how a 1 bedroom apartment costs $1,650.00 per month.

Do you actually think they are going to stop to show you a drivers license? They steal cars without regard for consequences.Only a fool could believe this will work.

DM, Who's issue is it to fix?Your solution is to completely cut off non-profits?What do you think the streets would look like if there wasn't a food bank?T69, EVERY organization needs to trim the herd now and then but the issue here will not be balanced by cutting services or employees. The opposite has happened where need & demand has increased beyond the non-profits abilities.20+ years of struggling has now come to the point of too many needs vs too little money. The only option left is "please sir my I have some more"Just like more people need the food bank.

The only outcome from the suggested system will be making it easier to rig an election.8 wards/32000 votes = approx. 4000 per wardEach ward only has 4000 votes, yet you want to have 32000 people vote per ward?So 28000 EXTRA VOTES to control a ward of 4000 people seems a bit much.Less is more.

Add a new option for donations.Instead of mailing donations...call in a donation to be picked up by "designated driver".This system works all day long and doesn't need a stamp.

Quote "Barrie-based ice cream trucks scoop up the money and take it out of town."Burger/Food joints take all the money out of town.Big Box stores take all the money out of town.Uber takes all the money out of town & country and it was denied by the last council then endorsed & fast tracked by the Mayor & council of this term.ANY & EVERY startup business that is considering Orillia needs to be encouraged not discouraged. The jobs and taxes by small business are what made the BIG companies.EVERYONE STARTS SMALL PROVIDING SOME KIND OF TRADE or SERVICE.They might also look at getting a location to operate from instead of wasting gas & wages to drive an hour a day for no profit, perhaps they might even consider a local franchise...but only if there is a profit to be made.Orillia is plain and simple a monopolized town.Corporate Extortion by another name.

Obviously, making more laws only puts more people in prison. That is not a solution, it is a reaction.Crime is increasing because society is failing. You can't "FIX" crime, yet WE MUST FIX society or we all face the consequences.Mandatory vocational testing & education while in prison. Why, so when they are released they have a skill or trade.or Release an non-rehabilitated / unresolved individual into the wild with nothing but the clothes on their backs and say Good Luck! Enough is enough. It costs upwards of $150,000 per person in a prison. For that amount of money being spent they should be releasing brain surgeons and rocket scientists.

What is the alternative?Does the OPP & City Of Orillia have a replacement system that is up & working the same or better than X? No, well that was a good idea at the time. How is this going to cost taxpayers?Lets just MUTE THE MIC.It appears to be the standard way to stop dissent.Perhaps we should go back to using the newspaper.Maybe even drop paper leaflets from the OPP helicopter's.That said if there was a Canadian system working already it would be used right now.Well i guess we should shut down all the internet & cell towers as well because they too go to the USA for monitoring of dissent.Do you really think making it more difficult to communicate is a solution?
