Everyone wants housing costs addressed but refuse to have it in "their neighborhood". These single units free up small houses for small families. If you don't want neighbors move to the country because clearly the city is not what you expect.
I fully understand the copyright infringment and that deterrents must be put forth to prevent it moving forward. That being said, people love this kind of stuff and the offer of royalties and fundraising opportunities to a school board that is incessantly crying that they're perpetually underfunded was fair, reasonable and most importantly mutually beneficial. This reminds me of when children don't care about a specific toy until they are another child playing with it and then they throw a tantrum until they get the toy, not so that they can play with it but, just so that no one else can. They had an opportunity to boost funding and grow the nostalgic brands benefitting both the board and the local business owner and instead they chose to put it back on a shelf so no one can play with it.
He was going to break off talks regardless. He's done it multiple times already, each time it's followed by the actual demand he wanted to make in the first place. This is no different. Can't wait to see what ridiculous demand this one brings up.
Does it make sense to have it so close to the beer store, lcbo and a river that has a reputation and feeds directly into superior? I'd like to see the rest of this "extensive" list.. or is this it?
If he never took the steps to get the exemption he was entitled to, never agreed to sit down with the employer to rectify his concerns, never filed any grievances with his union, never filed an actual complaint while anything was happening, there is zero wrongdoing on anyone's part but that of his own doing, or lack thereof.
Nick Greg you either have never worked truly hard at gaining anything tangible in you're entire life or have become so jaded by the school of thought that everyone can be saved if we light enough money on fire. Either way, the fact that you choose to degrade anyone else's frustration with sad little comments says everything about you that needs to be known. Be better.
If it's a terrible deal, the members can vote it down. If it's a good deal and they vote in favour then the union did its job by getting a deal the membership votes in favour for. There's absolutely no reason not to vote on it.
No one is denying the programs existence. They're denying its proximity to our youth. There's a vast difference between saying these things can't exist at all and saying you can't have one next door to a school or a daycare. If they're truly dedicated to their cause and not posturing simply move away from our youth. There is absolutely no clause in the charter of rights and freedoms that says they have a legal right to put this program next door to a school and by no stretch of the imagination does this obstruct their life, liberty and security anymore than it does having needles being thrown on the ground d outside an elementary school!
I'm all for full and transparent investigations into the corruption in our police force, but demanding an apology from the chief who was hired from outside the police service after all of this unfolded is like asking my kid to apologize to me for something my grampa did before they were born. It's picking a fight where there isn't one to be had.
Goofball I 100% agree with you. It'll be a tough transition but honestly a long overdue one. We should have been more diversified long ago. There is no need to rush into making commitments with a person like trump knowing full well he'll change the rules as he goes. Unpredictability is bad for business. I support Carney as well, and he's the reason I chose not to vote blue for the first time.
I understand on smaller streets by does city management really think putting these up on some of the busiest and widest streets in the city makes any sense and will be safe at all? You couldn't pay me to cross Arthur Street on foot during rush hour lol I just saw a car openly run a red light a block away from this proposed location but not to go through the red, to turn left! Enforcement for traffic offences seems to have fallen to an all time low and now they want to have foot traffic on these streets away from more controlled stop lights?
The only reason the majority of that survey indicated support for that area is because they only gave us two choices! Miles or Kam river. Given this city's track record with rivers and the vulnerable population the only option they gave us was Miles. They didn't even offer an alternative. It was a fixed outcome and they knew that going into it.
You are so wrong it's actually funny! Lolhttps://www.tbnewswatch.com/local-news/singh-pushes-trudeau-on-alstom-contract-9598699https://www.tbnewswatch.com/local-news/ontario-and-alstom-will-make-a-transit-related-announcement-in-thunder-bay-4810179Doug Ford has been pushing contracts through for alstom for more than four years. The federal government has failed to put forward it's share of these projects. Maybe you haven't noticed but the federal government over the past few years hasn't been conservative. Even the ndp pushed alongside Ford to get more work for them and still the liberals did nothing. You talk as if Ontario is heading to the polls right away without any actual writing on the walls. You ignore the fact that now just before the federal government falls into an election the money is finally being put forward.
"48 hours away and the company doesn't pay them" is false. They get paid after x number of hours away from home off the clock. They are not on call 24/7/365 they are mandated by law to have 12 hours off after a maximum 12 hours on while home and 10 hours off after 12 hours maximum on while away. The rest of the average working class gets a minimum 8 hours off between shifts, with a maximum of 16 hour shifts. The average can/CPkc engineer and conductors make north of 100k annually, the average working class Joe makes an average of 60k. The union's must change the arguments because with information as freely available as it is now union's lies are too easy to expose. They do not have the blind support they once did and nor should they while they demand more than everyone else gets for working less than everyone else does all while crying woe is me.
Lol there isn't thousands of worker at Alstom in Thunder Bay. Any company that is required to beg every three years for work from the government is poorly managed with a failing business model. Clearly changing the name on the building didn't change the same tired and over budget message from that plant.
Has the treatment been available to anyone in Canada? Many treatment options in the US are not approved here, so of course there wouldn't be any access to it. If it has been approved what reasons are given for the delays or denials? It's great to have the one side so we can get aquatinted with the child and the family but where's the other half of this story? Where's the explanation, where's the pointed actual issue at hand, heck, where is any information on what options were made available in the US? So much missing information. Feels like someone rushed this article without writing the entire story.
There's a difference between this project and the project your mind is on. This one is transitional housing for those getting clean. Alpha court doesn't allow drug use on their properties. The tenants pay rent based on their income support which offsets the cost and gets these folks ready for a normal life. The other project allows drug use, has provided no timeline as to how they intend to move their occupants along, they pay nothing but we as taxpayers foot the bill. Tiny homes are much like small apartments that alpha court already uses to help people get better and stay better. The city's plan is no where near as thought out as this one.
My guy, kids lungs aren't fully developed and are more susceptible to smoke inhilation. The smoke is expected to worsen throughout the day. Add that to intense physical activity all day and you've got a pretty good chance of someone needing medical attention. Why on earth would a school take that chance when they could easily reschedule the event?
