36He should also make changes to put back in place Senior only buildings. It’s unfair, inhumane, dangerous and disturbing., that we have no senior buildings. The DSSAB buildings are for whoever is next on the list for housing. (Regardless of their past criminalRecord etc). This needs to change ASAP. Seniors are suffering and are afraid. Go back to the old system. It worked. Seniors were safer and were able to enjoy their golden years.

TBNewsWatch 23Isn’t it sad that our seniors have to live in this environment. Maybe if Ranta, the mayor and all board members had to live in these buildings for a few months., they would see the desperate need to go back to senior housing. We had it many years ago, and our seniors felt safe and secure. All of a sudden that was taken away. You chose YES CHOSE. To house anyone on the rent geared to income waiting list with our vulnerable seniors. It doesn’t matter if they are thieves, murderers, drug addicts etc., if they are on the list. They get to move in, next door to our vulnerable . They are terrified to leave their apartments. Many push a portable dishwasher in front of their doors, so people can’t break in to their apartments. They do not walk down the corridor alone. They miss medical appointments if no one is able to go with them as they are scared to go out alone. City council and the board of DSSAB should be SHAMED

TBNewsWatch 18I believe it should be for buildings like DSSAB, when they have been aware of what tenants are conducting these activities for far too long and have turned a blind in. Numerous tenants and even organizations have contacted DSSAB to protect the most vulnerable. But as per usual. They turn a blind eye. There is no excuse for what DSSAB has become. Slum lords! And they do not provide safe housing. Maybe this will be their wake up call!!!As for people who rent out apartments in their homes. That would be more difficult as how is the landlord to know.

TBNewsWatch 15Sorry something is amiss here! The residents received no meals. No garbage pick up. No air conditioning etc. this is an ongoing issue with numerous violations but this gets to slide!! NO!!What are you not telling us? So you can ask the meeting and do not even bone up with a contingency plan. Pathetic. Which one of your buddies are in line to purchase it for Pennies on the dollar. None of this makes sense. Look at what the residents have been through and you just wash your hands. This is elder abuse!!!

TBNewsWatch 7Will definitely need a pop up clinic in Thunder Bay. No vets are taking in new clients. Have to drive four hours to Dryden for veterinary care. Not everyone is able to do so. I worry about will happen with many dogs and cats who will not be getting altered due to the distance to travelAnd lack of resources.

TBNewsWatch 8He is hiding Doesn’t want any flack. Especially in regards to the tax increase and the survey that they put out. People are not doing the survey anymore as they just put out the survey to make it look like they care about what the residents think. As anyone can see, they already knew what they were going to do in November. So the survey was a waste of time and people knew it. The mayor knew it too and if he isn’t in the public eye. He can’t be questioned or get any backlash. My opinion anyway.

What you fail to mention is that the city receives millions of dollars from TBay Tel, and OLG/Gateway casino. The other cities you compared us to, do not. So patting yourselves on the back for a small tax increase (as you put it), is a slap in the face.

TBNewsWatch 3If you want more MD’s to stay in the North, then take in more applicants from Thunder Bay and surrounding districts. Every med student you speak with is either from Toronto, Barrie, Muskoka, BC etc., very very few are from around here.
