Porter added two extra flights today (PD 1684 and PD 1686) and Air Canada Express added one extra flight (AC 7685). They have been delayed due to weather, but they are helping clear the backlog. Busy day at the airport! Thanks to all the airport staff and security staff for dealing with a large amount of passengers!

Nominations are open from May 1 to August 21. To get onto the ballot, you need to be an eligible voter, get 25 signatures, and pay the $100 filing fee ($200 for mayor).

People can still file police reports and I would encourage those who were assaulted or threatened to go talk to the police. The league needs to back those who choose to go to the police and fully cooperate with any investigation.

Everyone should get a library card (it helps increase their numbers for funding)! Much more than just books! All you need to get a library card is photo ID or two pieces of non-photo ID with your name and local address. The staff are wonderful too!

This makes a lot of sense for Westjet. They bring planes to go for maintenance at JD Arrow and they might as well have passengers on the planes going back and forth. It will also be nice to see 737s at the airport, not just Q400s.

Instead of fixing highways 11 and 17, Mr. Ford wants to build his fantasy 401 tunnel. I wonder how much of the 11 and 17 could be improved with the same money.

Porter will change their Sudbury flights to be to/from Ottawa instead of Toronto-City on May 1. If that goes well, maybe they will add extend the flight to the Sault (stop in Sudbury, continue to Ottawa) or something.

I feel like there could be a compromise. The current by-law is one or two pages, if you break the by-law you only get your signs removed and are able to pick them up from public works for FREE. Even with the current by-law there are no consequences and recovery of costs for picking up signs in violation. Really, a candidate could leave all their signs out after the election and potentially face 0 consequences. So, the by-law could be updated without a total prohibition on signs on public property, but with rules around distance between signs, prohibited locations (parks, memorials, etc.), size/height, and cost recovery for staff to remove signs in violation. I would have liked to see this referred back to staff for more options and potentially a public survey to see what the public would like to see and where they will like to not see signs. Hopefully this isn't the end of this issue.

Other cities often require construction companies to provide a temporary crossing guard when construction is taking place in a school zone or along a school route. This should have been planned.

They currently have deals for the first few flights. Depart June 12 and return June 16, standard economy, $553.80. Prices go up, July 7-10, $856.64 standard economy. You can see on their website, they have a helpful calendar. Air Canada seems to cost more to go to Calgary and with a connection.
