POLL: Liberals, Tories have solid support, but other voters are wobbly
25
After what the liberals did to Canada in the last 5-10 years it truly baffles me how and why anyone would continue to vote Liberal at the federal level. Our housing and healthcare are on life support, the deficit is ballooning, they love to divide and virtue signal, crime is a problem and our GDP per capita is declining, meaning poorer quality of life for Canadian citizens.

Who are they kidding, they intend to profit off of the property like all other developers and landlords. There’s a legitimate concern here - why are they taking away affordable family size affordable apartments only to replace them with units of less size? I smell something fishy
36
The fines should be higher. There really needs to be more disincentives for landlords to evict tenants who do nothing wrong. Likewise there should be more disincentives for bad tenants who abuse the system and handcuff landlords by not paying rent or demand money to leave. The whole system needs to be fixed!
33
There needs to be buildings, affordable rent for these people - not parkland amenities to promote the living of individuals in the green spaces of our city. This is a failure of our elected officials.

“ A separate report reveals another alarming statistic: 23,746. That is the number of Canadian patients (at least) who died last fiscal year while on government waiting lists for surgeries or diagnostic scans”Absolute incompetence. The average Canadian family pays over $8000 a year in medical costs through taxation. Where the heck does this money go??’

I don’t have an issue with bike lanes but do have an issue where active transportation is being prioritized. For example - the whole community between Victoria and Watson along York has no bike lanes and almost no sidewalks. School kids walk on roads, there is no crosswalk to safely catch a bus - to me that is a higher AT priority than bike lanes on Speedvale or Scottsdale. And yes I agree - multi use paths, like on Woodlawn, are the way to go.

3 billion could end homelessness in the province with money left over to open a couple of high volume diagnostic imaging centres (MRIs, CTs) - but hey, everyone including the millionaires of the province need a $200 vote buying cheque.

Private developers wanting yet more subsidies but still making tonnes of cash. Sorry but DCs should be part of the process - if they did this for all developers then who funds municipal infrastructure? Taxpayers.

Doug Ford is more of a crook than any shoplifter. That said yes we need bail reform and stiffer penalties for repeat offenders. This is getting out of control.

We live in East Guelph across from the reformatory lands. In this pocket of Guelph we have 20+ school kids walking on icy, narrow and hilly roads without sidewalks to school bus pickup locations. School kids of all ages and some with disabilities on the roads with cars. Unlike the rest of Guelph there is no municipal park here - none within a 25 minute walk. But there is City owned green space that is just left unattended and waiting for a neighbourhood park. Multiple residents have complained to the City about this, including complaints to the mayor, council and city staff. They all try to defer it. It’s a growing pocket of Guelph that our mayor promised to invest in 5 years ago when he came for a ribbon cutting event - and since then he has ghosted us! Doesn’t even have the courtesy to respond to emails about it.I for one can’t wait to vote our mayor out in the next municipal election. Let’s see how “strong” he is then.

What a mess of an election and candidates. The LPC has done everything to be booted out of office, yet none of the parties offer someone like Carney. I’m voting based on performance and what the Liberals have done on housing, immigration, budget etc .. well they won’t be getting my vote. But who the heck do I vote for instead?
15
11
Oh good grief, hasn’t the LPC done enough damage already? I like Carney, but the party is almost the same. The same folks who dropped the ball on the immigration, housing, healthcare files are supposed to make us believe they will help solve the crises they helped create? I don’t trust them.

This redesign has been going on for 12 years - do they need to have yet another public input session on it?
21
Sounds like more units that don’t really support families The concerns for too much density and parking are valid.

Really? That’s the design they’re proceeding with? Looks like a hodgepodge of amenities just thrown into a box. I agree there’s no wow factor! Another municipal waste of money and resources.
20
Word. Absolutely agree

We need a new mayor and council. This design doesn’t do enough.

This tower needs to shrink by at least 6 floors

Ford the populist governing like Trump. Speed cameras work, the only people complaining are those who speed. Instead of creating a bill to abolish them it would have made a lot more sense to change the timing - turning off or having flexible speeds when schools are not in use. This is a huge over reaction by our elected leader to maintain votes from his car voting base. It shares a clear message: your right to illegally speed in school zones > then safety of children. For those saying just put in speed bumps - you will be the same drivers who speed between each bump.

Our government has billions for companies and war yet transfers to the provinces for healthcare are peanuts when compared to demand. Demand they are accountable for with rapid immigration population growth. And penny pinching Doug Ford throws gasoline on the fire.We need new leadership. People are dying because of our antiquated healthcare infrastructure and wait times - and it will only get worse. This should be a national emergency with federal, provincial and municipal involvement. There seems to be more attention on housing but citizens need prompt healthcare attention too.
