How many businesses have to continue to suffer and finally are forced to make the decision to close before something is done to HELP THE BUSINESSES rather than those causing the problem??

So sad. Yet another unique business leaving the downtown area.

The Regional District knew this was happening. Why wasn’t something in place to take over immediately June 1st.

I find absolutely that when our City Council wants something to be developed they completely ignore the OCP but when something like this Center, which is providing support and abstinence from drugs and alcohol ad has operated with little or no problem for some time asks they are turned down. Folks are so generous and think these supportive homes are needed but it’s always “not in my neighborhood”. I bet most of these people who sent letters of dissent didn’t even realize that the Integris Recovery Organization was even there until this application was made and posted. So very sad!!

I agree that downtown is a really bad place for Mr.PG. It should stay somewhere there at the intersection of the highways. That way tourists and visitors actually see it and if they want a picture they will find a way to take one without trying to get downtown and find it. My Dad worked for the City Of PG and was part of the group who built the original Mr. PG and toured him around the province. Moving him downtown is a very bad idea.

I feel very bad for our Mayor. From a variety of things I have read regarding city council votes, items put forward by the mayor that have been voted down, I believe there are a specific group of councillors who vote against anything he suggests pretty well. Hopefully the voting public in Prince George will remember these folks and vote them out in the next election.

You definitely need more OPEN public washrooms. In Carrie Jane Gray Park, a horrendous amount of money was spent on building a “public” washroom. I go to that park to walk my sons dog at least 4 times a week. That washroom is NEVER open. The only times I have seen it be open is when there is a ball tournament going on. Many people use that park daily and a few times during the summer I met visitors to our city wanting to use the washroom. Why would you build it at great expense and it’s almost never available to usE.

Sad but true. How many studies and reports have already been done. Why do City council and the Mayor think they and administration have all the answers? The people who actually provide the services that happen in these facilities are the ones who know what is needed. All tge rest of us are end users. Rethink this entire plan once all the specific occupants of these new buildings have had their input. Not just Arts and performing but the hockey teams etc. as well.

I am very glad to hear this service should be available again by mid September. My only question is why wasn’t something available immediately after Cascade Recycling told them they would not be providing service past the end of their contract.? It is terrible in a city this size not to have these services available.

Terrible idea to use Alternative Approval Process. Many, many folks will not fill out the for,S or do not have access or can’t be bothered to but would surely vot in a referendum. When the city is borrowing/spending that kind of money, the voters and tax payers in Prince George should have a right to vote on it. It will affect our taxes and for many folks, it is becoming increasingly difficult to afford those increases.

Great article about a special man!

Honestly. So ridiculous. These Senior Centers provide affordable nutritious food for seniors , a social place to meet and visit, games, events and more. If they are asking for funding, they need it now, not after council discusses it. So crazy. It should have been voted on and passed unanimously. Seniors mostly live on fairly tight fixed incomes and these are the only places they can afford to go and have a meal and a social life. Hooefully the seniors in PG are taking note of this and seeing who voted for and against as they are the largest percentage of votes and get the least notice and consideration.

Independent, affordable seniors housing ia a definite need in PG. I hope those developers considering building such residences are consulting with actual seniors so that the housing being built actually meets their needs. Reading what this developer has stated it reads that they will be 1 and 2 story with 1 or 2 bedrooms. I believe most seniors prefer 1 story as stairs can become an issue. Wider hallways and doorways in case the need develops for walkers or wheel chairs and close to shopping, pharmacy and public transportation.:Stop building senior housing that doesn’t work for seniors.

Yes, good lighting and cameras are great. Unfortunately that only helps if offenders are arrested and kept in jail for the multiple crimes they are committing. If not they are back on the street committing the same or more crimes hours later. How helpful is that to the businesses downtown??

OMG I cannot believe this. We close the place down and leave one trailer where multiple crimes are committed. Don’t tell me there isn’t housing available for one person. Give me a break. If the law forces you to open an overnight camping area where they are only allowed to be for the hours stated, who will enforce this every single day? What is that going to cost us, the tax payers, and do not open antsy extra spaces. That will only encourage more to come and start camping there and before you know it we will be back to where we started!! This is absolutely crazy!!!!

Sounds like a very special and well deserved event. We were so lucky to have you for our MLA for so many years. There has never been and likey may never be again an MLA from our district so committed to her constituents. We were he lucky ones!! We all know you will find ways to continue efforts and the things you are and have been so committed to. Thank you so much. I look forward to seeing you out and about in our deity.
I don’t remember the exact exorbitant amount that was spent on the “public washroom in Carie Jane Park. What I don’t understand is why it’s never open. I walk my sons dog 5 days a week down there and the only time the washroom has been open is when there is a ball tournament going on. There are many folks who walk, picnic and walk dogs in that park every day of the week and I am sure they would be grateful for a washroom to use. Why did we spend that huge amount of money for it to be accessible so rarely?

They may deserve a raise but 24% is a bit excessive. How are average families able to keep up with so many increases on everything. So many people are really struggling now but almost daily we hear of an increase on something. I feel especially bad for seniors.
