Until cruise ships transition to cleaner fuels and become more sustainable I would like to see Thunder Bay ban them. It's obvious that travellers don't care about the environmental impact as long as they are having fun. Cruise ships are travelling resorts. Much better for the environment if travellers take a plane and stay in hotels or Airbnbs. From Popular Science https://www.popsci.com/environment/why-cruise-ships-are-bad-for-the-environment/"But a water-bound vacation isn’t just a concern for infectious disease—these ships are having a massive effect on the climate."
Certainly hope those horses are never returned to those horrible conditions! Poor things. Why did they even keep horses if they didn't want to take care of them???
At least these public lands are not being sold to a company run by a convicted criminal responsible for I'm sure many deaths here and elsewhere. At least I hope this numbered company is not associated with them in any shape or form.
I totally agree. Once parkland is gone, it's gone for good. There are small private landowners with vacant property but not the funds to develop it. Using some of the money from the province and federal government to help with costs to develop would be better in my opinion.
Why is it that some people cannot enjoy watching a hockey game (or celebrating anything) without alcohol? It blows my mind to think people are not capable of having fun without booze. But the greater the alcohol sales, the more money will be collected by Mr. Ford's government.
Have no fear! Alcohol will be rolling out again soon. Maybe it would be a better idea to save your money for downpayment on house, rent, groceries, your kids, a vacation or maybe even investing in your retirement! Booze purchases add up.
Sad when our planet is still under threat but politics trumps science. Hoping new PM at least replaces the consumer carbon tax with some other incentive to encourage us all to use less fossil fuels.
Considering taxing LU and college accommodations??? Are they thinking of adding a tax for students to pay on top of the already expensive rates? Many first-year students stay on campus but then search for rental houses to share with others in their future years due to the high cost of accommodations on campus. Maybe the City should review cutting back on top heavy administrative staff instead of looking for more ways to tax people who stay in our city.
PLEASE come and catch the speeders on Hilldale Road as well! Many times I'm going the speed limit or 5 over and get passed by lunatics going 90 - 100. Sad to say that they are usually very young people (but not always). Been passed on a hill and curve many times where it's impossible to see if anyone is coming the other way.
