This feels like this was intentionally written in a way to spark more hate comments towards Angela... hope that wasn't the intention of this outlet. Imagine an article outlining Terry Sheehan or Ross Romano's ongoing projects as: "a caboodle of new callings"...dismissive language for someone trying to actively uplift democracy. I wish our current and future councilors all the best in navigating this challenge.
Hopefully other departments within the city take Emily seriously and implement some of her ideas and initiatives; thank you for working hard to protect the health and environment of our city.
We need more and better planning for this space. As someone who has gone out to these events to try and support- many have been disappointing. Midnight Madness was really nice and filled with people, lights, and laughter. If we as a city are going to fund this, the city also needs to invest in proper planning all year long. There should be something that draws you to the space every weekend. Food vendors and MRKT have been really lovely- they just need support to thrive.
The DTA has really tried to engage with youth and students in a way the city hasn't been able to for revitalization efforts in the downtown. Hopefully the city will be able to incorporate this passion and care, instead of leaving the downtown to continue to degrade and collapse. A healthy community needs a healthy heart- a healthy and thriving downtown sector for people to gather, shop, and explore.
There should be an online form available for feedback. Asking your customers (bus riders) to take another bus to the John Rhodes during March weather to have their voices heard isn't a good approach. The system is so bad right now and the city will not listen to those it's affecting most of all.
Friends of mine were stuck in the cold waiting for buses- having to walk through the perilous conditions, falling and hurting themselves in hour+ walks home through black ice, unplowed sidewalks of slush. Better communication needed from transit please.
Doug Ford's cuts to colleges and universities is what got us into this mess: schools had to make up the loss somewhere, unfortunately on the backs of international students. Federal government gave the provinces a lot of chances to fix this before implementing these extreme measures. Very hard times for post-secondary in Ontario.
How and why would anybody that relies on transit take even more time out of their schedules to commute to this in-person event? The system is so bad that it takes at least an hour or two to bus there and back depending on what end of town you live in. Especially those with mobility issues, and for the students currently in exam season. There should be an online forum or survey if the city did care about their customers here.
If you like stuff like this, go in person to Vintage Games n Junque and chat with the staff- they have posters up and promote their events, game nights, etc.
Linking psylocibin and ecstasy together is irresponsible research gathering and makes these findings skewed and practically unusable. Even if it's just for fun, it seems like online journalism needs a refresher on proper research ethics and practices.
There's no way Hotdogs is lecturing the public about a restaurant that they are clearly too afraid to even try. Log off and experience what this city has to offer in 2025, promise it's not so scary out there.
So they paid a company to tell them what Algoma U has been telling them for years? They had a full student survey that outlined these exact same findings. Hopefully someone will finally listen.
