People in this city have a hard enough time stopping at a red light, so it's no surprise they are not stopping at a stop sign! But hey Sault Ste. Marie, you keep up with all the brainless ideas!!!

I wonder how long it will take for the comments to be deleted. Pretty much seems to be be the norm these days with certain articles posted which is frustrating and a shame. As soon as you have opinions which differ from theirs, could comments section deleted. So much for freedom of speech...

Should have made him spend time in the downtown core!

Welcome to Sault Ste. Marie, where the only ones that pay the price are the hard working, retired, seniors, and children (law abiding citizens). The junkies and / or those with mental illness literally run this city with little to no repercussions for any of their actions. This has been proven repeatedly. They are terrorizing citizens, stealing from them, damaging property, breaking into or just walking into peoples homes whenever they have the opportunity, damaging vehicles, they are threatening and beating people up, walking into stores and walking out with carts full of stuff that they just discard anywhere, they are leaving their needles strewn all over whether on the streets or playgrounds, damaging and stealing money from street meters. They are doing this in broad daylight! Now they have stolen 3 plaques which is not surprising! What I have a hard time understanding is why this is making the news when so many people in this community have been violated without any acknowlegement

That would be fine and dandy if you could actually find what you are looking for locally. There is not much to choose from in this city, and the prices are out of this world. If there was something online that I could buy locally, would retailers honour Amazon's price? I hardly think so. So for the purpose of selection, pricing and safety, I will continue with Amazon, until this city starts bringing in more outlets with selection and comparative pricing, and starts dealing with the safety of people being out and about.

Years ago, I would have thought this was a good idea since it was already in place on the American side, and I always thought Canada lagged behind. However, with the current state of what is going on here with our justice system alone, or lack thereof, I see a lot of problems with the situation. We as a community deal with vandalism, thefts, aggression of all kinds, and so on, on a daily basis. I believe we will see an increase with all of the above going forward. It's sad to think this way because it is much more convenient for people to get what they need at the corner store rather than making a trip to the beer/liquor store. I just hope that all of these places have good working cameras, proper staffing during the times they are selling spirits, and protocols in place.

Hey Trump! You got enough going on, on your side of the border, which was mostly caused by you!!! So you and your minion (musk) can just leave Canada alone. We don't want you! You are a disgrace...

If this business is running illegally, why aren't the police going in and shutting it down? Just a few weeks ago the police went in to stop a band from playing music in a basement because they didn't have proper permits and were over capacity. They said this was illegal and took action! Clearly Andy Boston has no intentions of stopping his illegal sales of vehicles until he clears what's left of his inventory. Am I missing something here? Are there two different definitions to the word illegal? He's clearly breaking the law, so do something to stop it!!! I can't for the life of me, understand how this city is allowing this to continue! This is a joke, and a bad one at that...

So all this article proved is that you continue to talk in circles and not provide any other solutions. We all know how hard the city is working to keep roadways clear, or at least one and a half lanes clear at any given time! You did nothing to address the issue of the amounts and size of snow/ice blocks being left in driveways after scraping down the streets except to say that snow gates are not an option here. That's a cop out! A lot of our residents do not have the capacity to remove what's left behind on their own. A shovel won't move it and a snowblower won't go through it. We should not be expected to put more money out of our pockets to have it cleared! We all pay enough in taxes, and everything else for that matter. And yes, we have had a lot of snow this winter, but we do live in the north and should expect it, but you should be ensuring that your budget reflects that also! DO BETTER!!!

I watched a young crew of city workers this past week filling some of the nasty potholes in the Gibb Street area. I don't know why they even bothered. They only filled a handful of the potholes, maybe a third of the holes from the school to Chambers St, didn't bother to pack it down properly, and there was more asphalt surrounding the potholes than actually in them. You still can't drive over some of the holes they filled. How about training these guys to do the job properly. They're getting paid good money to do the job, how about taking some pride in what you're doing. The city should be paying for all the claims coming in to their office, and 200.00 per claim is not an acceptable amount.

You're joking right? Start arresting these criminals and put them behind bars once and for all. You're all sadly mistaken if you think these bike boxes are going to change people's minds about going downtown or feeling safe. What about the rest of our population? What are you doing to make them feel safe in the downtown core, or anywhere else in this city of ours? For God's sake, just start dealing with the real criminals stealing, vandalizing, threatening, etc. and lock them away once and for all.

Well something definitely needs to get done with all the erratic driving going on in this city, but I can certainly see some of these drivers using other routes where there is no camera. Obviously four is a good start.

How do you expect that seniors will age comfortably by being sent to ltc homes not of their choosing/out of their community. This is a clear violation of human rights! I am appalled to say the least at the way our government treats one of our most vulnerable population. They continue to deny/take away from seniors, and it's really no different than saying you've done your time and you are no longer a viable member of society, so this is where you're going to be living out the rest of your life, and if you refuse to go, you could be fined 400/day. Our government should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this Bill to be passed. They should be ashamed for forcing these seniors to go to these homes far away from their families and familiarity. Our seniors have paid more than their dues, so how about you start dealing with the problem and start creating more ltc services in their communities instead of putting them out like trash. This is more like a sci-fi senario!!!

Everyone is entitled to have their own opinions and should be able to voice those opinions! Not everyone who posts is making threats, and you shouldn't be putting everybody in the same basket! Nothing irks me more than posting in the discussion section, and because it goes against the grain of the article, all comments are deleted! You should be wanting to hear how the residents here in the Sault feel, but instead you shut them out! This does not make how they feel or perceive things, go away! It only adds to further mistrust! You need to take the criticism along with the praise, and if you cant, then that's on you

Of course they are not going to divulge how much these seniors are being fined, but we all know that it is $400/day, which works out to $12000.00/month, which is highway robbery, and our government who supports this Bill should be crawling into a hole for collecting this ridiculous amount of money from our most vulnerable population. I know rates for ltc have increased yearly. When my mom was in ltc, she was paying $2200.00/ month, and my aunt who was in the same home and receiving the same care paid $2500.00/month. I don't know how this government can possibly think that $400.00/day is in any way fair or humane. It is nothing but deplorable and disgusting to say the least. There is absolutely nothing transparent about this government. You can preach all day that you are, but we all know different

This is a cruel and disgusting article. This government has taken enough from all seniors, and now not only are you pilfering more money from them, you are taking their families away from them. When is this abuse going to stop. Families going through this should be infuriated and scared! It's hard enough for family to monitor/track their loved ones well being/care when they are in ltc in their own hometown. Families need to stay on top of this. What you see and what actually goes on in some of these places isn't so black and white. Seniors in ltc should have and most definitely DESERVE a strong advocate. Their care and we'll being cannot be properly be monitored if they are hundreds of kilometres away, and not all the families of these seniors have the means to visit often to ensure that their loved ones needs are appropriately being taken care of. This is just another pocket lining scheme, and a means to take the heat off the govt to deal with what really goes on in these facilities.

They really should be opening up a place like the old Riverview! Yes we've always had drug addicts, mental illness and homelessness, but back in the day, if these people displayed the behaviour on the streets like they do now, that's where they went. It's just so very frustrating to see city council trying to beautify the downtown core when they are not dealing with the real problems at hand. How many more people in this community have to let them know they've had enough before they start doing something that's going to count for the good of the community. How many more people in this community have to be violated before city council realizes that what they're doing is just not working. We don't want just a bandaid, we want and expect much more!!! Do better or leave the positions you are in, so that someone else can at least try to clean up the mess in this city that you continue to close your eyes to...
