Striking LCBO workers' stiff stance on convenience store liquor licences
BayToday

For those of us who are responsible (the Majority), we don't need your nanny state.Let's be clear-whether you buy booze at the LCBO or a convenience store it has the same tax applied. Those taxes go into the coffers and fund our services.

She kept how many people employed and everyone and their uncle had nothing to do but paint some rooms in their house because they needed something to do. She supplied some sanity to all these people.Guilty on 36 counts but I hope she receives 0 fines. Public shame she paid already. Giving her anything else would serve what purpose?

I'm pretty sure when the idea came up to have the Gathering Place and/or the Food Bank, they anticipated that only working poor or homeless people would be using them. Not the 100's of druggies who are there on their actions only.I have given food many times to the gathering Place. I always assumed they screened their clients.

Ontario is frankly the last province to offer the sale of liquor, wine and beer in non-government owned businesses. What took so long?

rwrh-great idea so the city can sell them an overpriced bus pass to get back down the hill for services. If the city bus even goes that far anymore??

That school is 200 yards off of Lakeshore. It should still be a 60 zone. Or at least 50 KPH. There’s no neighborhood anywhere near there.Just how many kids are walking from that school? Walking to where? There’s wide open sight lines at Kate Pace Way. LSD is a thoroughfare to downtown NB from Callander.

I disagree Verdon. At 1 am I'd rather that desk sergeant in a car checking on his staff, making sure they are where they're suppose to be or assisting his officers in checking business doors, punks casing neighborhoods etc.

Can we file a Human Rights complaint that there are certain people who manipulate the system to get a free ride?

Gee I sure hope a woman who is forced to walk around to the lights at Cassell and the Bypass late at night from her employment doesn't get raped for doing so.How would you handle that MTO?

I personally don’t need Canada Post. I’m sure there are others like me.I’m technology savvy enough to pay bills online after receiving my bill via an email. Some people are not, I get it. And those that can’t have reliable internet or any at all must receive a bill and pay at the bank. But do we need 55,000 of them? And is 24% realistic in today’s economy?

I applaud this initiative. North Bay should be inclusive.I agree with Longtime2...bunch of complainers. You forgot one point though-to make the users pay for the facilities like they wanted the hockey community to solely pay for the arena. But hey, that would make them appear racist wouldn't it?

And why shouldn't they? They are the ones putting up the investment!

There are 2 types of homeless..1-the drug addicted-may or may not be from North Bay2-the working poor who can't afford rent or purchase a very modest homeI'm all for helping #2 but I will not help #1.
