Well, the last time I looked I never got a 4.5 % increase. I must be one of the unfortunate ones that have fallen behind the rate of inflation every year. I would suggest that the city look at expanding in future tent city developments because they will be having more tenants. They are looking for solutions for the homeless, but it looks like they may be one of the causes... seriously....
Two things... most people aren't getting a 3.8 per cent increase in wages. eg. Postal workers are on strike, are being offered way less."Temporary Shelter Village" let's get real, it's going to be called "Shelter Villages" like permanent, real soon. It's not going to go away! It is becoming a way of life for more and more every year. Soon the City will be posting a position for a "Director of the Shelter Village's" and a department to go with it. It is not temporary, any more. And you shouldn't need to hire consultants if you to do your jobs. You tell us that we pay big wages for the "expertise" of the quality managers.... show us your expertise
I can see why Canada Post can hold out as long as they want. Many of the top management are making million dollar plus salaries. They do not have any skin in the game… not their money… government money.
I agree that the parking should be free as well. A problem that I think that was going on, was that people who work downtown were using the lot for long terms, (all day) and were taking up a lot of spaces from the daily users.
I would like to know who decided to to park the tug at the Patterson dock for $5, 000 a month, whereas it could of been parked at the City Marina, or other City property for free? What did the City get for this $5000 @ month, heating, cleaning, maintenance? Something smells
It’s one thing that the taxes go to the government. This “trump “ induced increase goes to oil companies where you will never see any benefit, unless you are a stockholder, then you’ll be happy.
