'We need help' businesswoman pleads to police and civic leaders

This Lady pays more in taxes to this City than the average person why can’t she get the assistance needed from the city Police, the city bylaw enforcement people, city Councillors who should be calling out this travesty. What she is getting is nothing, if she stopped paying taxes tomorrow how long before the City forecloses on her business, not long. Com on Peter and the rest of the Councillors step up and stop what is happening, the problem is there its visible every day fix it!

Love to have another Liberal majority, Pierre is the Canadian version of Trump, a diasaster waiting to happen!

40 million, 50 million, 60 million, when will this insanity end 70+ million most likely. Just a reminder to Councillor’s when you ran for election 40 million was too much. Time to stop this headlong rush into a project that our children’s children will still be paying for many years from now. We have a homeless crisis, city infrastructure that is in dire need of upgrading, a declining population and employment base plus many other issues that should be addressed before you waste 70 million dollars on an ice palace that no one in their right mind wants!

Great letter but the Mayor and the CAO still Ned to go!

Gotta love this Council, the majority when running for Council said 49 million was too much. If 49 was too much how do they now justify 60 million? Too bad there is no recall provisions in municipal politics if there was I would be the first to volunteer and assist in booting these people out!

Hey Gary Gardiner and the rest of Council guess who the losers are……. Us the taxpayers once again. 47 million was too much when you ran for council but now 70 million is okay today? Too bad elections aren’t sooner means we have to wait to throw the lot of you out!

Time for the “old” man to step down and allow some new young energetic person with new ideas to run for the PC’s.

No support services, no funds available to help with housing, mental health crisis, lack of family doctors, crowded ER’s, and now an increase in immigration guess who will pay. The answer is simple, myself and every other tax paying citizen, when will this insanity stop!

These are the same Councillors who ran on a platform of “we can’t afford 49 million” now it seems 60 million is okay. Going to call The Peter Chirico I will never vote for that memorial arena. For once it would be nice to elect people who do what they say when running for election. Any councillor or the mayor who votes for this should be turfed the next election. Shame on all!

Another good reason this Authority should be shutdown!

Not sure that the Conservation Authority provides any useful services to the North Bay residents that foot the majority of its operating costs. Time to shut it down!

Time to change this bylaw and if Council doesn’t you have to wonder why not! Are Councillors afraid of what might be asked. One question would be “what has changed in relation to the Ice Palace, when running for Council you were vocal in your opposition to a price tag of 40M$ but now you support spending 59M$”!

Moving the “warming center” next to Chippewa High School is not the solution all that will do is exacerbate the ongoing issues the school is already experiencing with the homeless and addicted individuals. There is a reason Chippewa had to fence in its property and this move will not in any way shape or form help the problem!

You are correct and she along with Peter and others were opposed to it when they ran in the last election.

JBTP define criminally addicted. I will save you the trouble that definition does not exist. Give me your address and I will personally drop of the .02 cents of your taxpayer dollar that goes to support people who are homeless or addicted and homeless. JBTB take time out of your day and go and talk to the “criminally addicted”, you really need to walk a mile in their shoes before you condemn them.

Time for her to go she is living in a delusional state of mind and that’s the kindest thing I can about her!

Like North Bay Powassan can’t afford multi million dollar sport complexes, but North Bay Council did not listen to its constituents hopefully Powassan will!

Simple fact the 2700+ foreign students will contribute very little in the way of filling jobs in Canada after they graduate. Most foreign students will return to their home countries. Foreign students are nothing more than a “cash” cow for Ontario colleges and university. The only jobs that they work in while in Canada are at places like convenience stores and fast food restaurants. If you don’t believe that is true just visit a Tim Hortons, Wendy’s or any fast food locations, 90+% are non Canadian. It is time for Canadian colleges and universities to reduce the number of out of country students and return to a focus on training Canadian students for Canadian jobs.

Couldn’t happen soon enough, the best decision Burton ever made was to not seek a renewal of his contract.
