Crime, vagancy prompts Fortis BC to leave downtown core

Sold to another poverty industry provider? The poverty industry owns probably close to half of the downtown now.

They don't want shelter because they feel it's unsafe? But then they are running around, breaking things, threatening people, leaving trash everywhere...I guess that's ok? There is zero accountability amongst the unhoused.

Folks are going to need to start taking action themselves otherwise these 'people' will continue to walk all over the safety if others.

Closure of that dump cannot come fast enough. I blame all of these fires on the activists that have enabled this atrocity to continue for as long as it has.

Blame for this should be placed squarely at the feet of Judge Christopher HInkson...who legalized this encampment and protected the crime and misery that exists there.

Rustad was *checks notes* was in power from 2005 to 2017....and did nothing to address any of the chronic problems plaguing the forest industry. He is not going to do anything now other than drool at the mouth with the same old ideas that got us into this problem.

This is the way. Everyone howls about house prices, but everyone also overlooks the idea that few, if any of us, get our 'dream' home the first time. Buy small and work your way up.

Expect this to happen to the Fraser Inn and the North Star as well. ...just give it a year or two.

Good to see the whole story here and not some lame FB video.

Might as well just hand downtown PG over to the poverty industry. Business is booming for them. I'm seriously not joking...anytime there is a new tenant, it's almost always some sort of poverty industry business or service.

Can afford to buy property and 10K worth of lumber, but not find housing anywhere else?

Probably banned because they are violent toward staff or other people or unable to follow ultra-basic rules like no fires in your room.

Brilliant...pro-bono Vancouver lawyers

If we provide these people $800,000 brand new 5-bedroom homes, these pro-bono lawyers will still argue that it's not enough.

There is a special place in hell for people that dump animals in trash bags.

Ah yes, probation - the effective solution of choice in BC.
