I'd like to know how much money could be saved by removing the "curbs" for the bike lanes on Silvercreek Avenue. Right now, there is about 1 foot of snow on either side of these curbs, making the road and the bike lanes dangerous for everyone. Why are those curbs there in the first place?

So, on a day like this, can we admit that we aren't Amsterdam and that cycling is not practical during Canadian winters?At the very least, can we agree that the curbed bike lanes on Silvercreek are both ineffective and dangerous?

Not mentioned in this article (or in the linked article): agricultural lands are taxed at a lower rate than every other kind except for natural heritage lands. What was the classification of these lands prior to the variance? How much tax revenue is Ontario forgoing?And who reaps the profit of the cash crops?

Engineering and Law firms use "billable hours." Perhaps that approach would provide some accountability: taxpayers would know how much time is spent on which projects/activities in City Hall.

In the 60s, 70s, and 80s, mental health institutions were closed. The intent was that people suffering from illnesses such as schizophrenia would then access "community-based supports." Guess what? Such supports were - and still are - few and far between.The road to hell is paved with good intentions. We failed some of the most vulnerable people in society.
