While I 10000% agree the police service board needs more than just a shake up, we don't need to drop a bomb on the board and that's what would happen if she got her hands on that board. God only knows the mess she would have made on that board! She needs to step away from politics ideally, not expand her portfolio!

Are you kidding me… trying to hold his pay over this… Mayor Shoemaker as a civil lawyer working for a firm that specializes in employment law should be well aware that an employer cannot use punitive measures such as withholding pay as discipline against an employee. I understand that the city councillors are paid an honorarium so are not technically city employees but what kind of example is this setting, especially from a lawyer with expertise in this area. And what possibly does a forced apology do? Our city council needs to get back to city business and stop this ridiculous sand box dispute. So childish!

Please forgive me here but a previous article stated that almost 2800 members were going to suffer when the Y was scheduled to close, but now 2400 memberships demonstrate sustainability? HOW? Great Lukendas rushing in to help, everyone already had an idea it was them…. But are they really helping? Or just ripping the band aid off very slowly and wasting tax dollars in the process…. The financial statements speak for themselves, 2400 members is not sustainable… they couldn’t even get all their initial members back, what chance do they have of expanding their base to the additional 2700 needed by December? Fat chance that’s happening… time to call it quits

Of course this was the result… gotta keep the wall clear for Shoemakers photo… he just needs his throne and crown and then he’s the king of Sault Ste. Marie… clearly he doesn’t understand history, and perhaps the city would immediately remove the coat of arms behind the mayor in council as that was issued by the crown, and should immediately change the police badge which also was granted by the crown. Unbelievable…

I appreciate that he focuses more on solutions than trashing the opposition. 90% of what comes out of PP's mouth is criticisms with little solutions. I am also very concerned about PP's dictator style of leadership within his party. Pretty sad when the local candidates are muzzled by the party just in case they slip and say something thats not what PP's views are. Very Trump like. Not that I support the Liberal Platform more than 50% but Carney will at least lead the country in a democracy not become a dictator like our neighbours are going through right now.

Is it really that hard for drivers to stop at stop signs, and for those who have the right of way to safely have the right of way? Drivers need to focus on driving, this is not brain surgery, theres adequate warnings and notices, not to mention that you should not be relying on memory as to where theres a stop sign vs lights, the stop sign is right in front of you! The police need to amp up traffic enforcement, enough of this downtown garbage... We need Lois Beckett Back!

$40/hour jeeze that’s a great wage for a one year career college diploma! 20,000 calls a year means 54 calls a day so if you had 5 trucks on the road that’s 11 patients a day, and at peak times is it not 7 or 8 trucks on in a day? That seems like not a lot of work compared to nurses in the ER juggling multiple patients at once and well over 11 patients in a 12 hour shift…

Its sad that a company has to come on and defend themselves like this because of a bunch of SSM whiners, typical! It is the customers responsibility to read the terms and conditions of their contracts before entering into them, and live with the contract if you did not... Its like Amazon advertising that Prime members get 2 day delivery, theres tonnes of times they do not get the delivery on-time to the client, are we arguing with them every day? like seriously people... No wonder why people move out of this city as quickly as they can!

There always a concern when they do these trials as people in this city are too routine, and do not actually pay attention to their driving. This city has WAY too many traffic lights compared to other cities of this size. I applaud them for trying to reduce the excessive traffic delays... now we just have to get drivers to pay attention to the signals/signage and then it will be just fine... These accidents are not caused by removing traffic lights, they are caused by people who should not be behind the wheel.
