@ Herewegoagain Some evidence that could help answer your question - A memo leaked to CBC's Marketplace reveals bribes, forged documents at Ontario’s DriveTest centres. Hidden camera, internal memo reveal how unqualified truck drivers are getting onto Canada's roadshttps://www.cbc.ca/news/marketplace/bribes-trucking-industry-hidden-camera-1.7348425Until politicians stop avoiding the elephant in the room; the one that would impact potential "new" votes, the rest of us will continue to be unsafe when driving on any roadway
As someone who regularly drives the North Bay to Kirkland Lake route for my employer, I can attest to the terrible driving exhibited by truck drivers these days.I've had trucks tailgate me because I'm only doing 95 in a 90, pass at the very end of passing lanes forcing me(and others I've witnessed) to the shoulder, pass me on blind hills and corners l, lose wheels, have no tail lights and many other things. The MTO needs to triple their presence on highway 11.
Paid by the mile...go faster make more money. Until we grasp that; any large expenditures on highways will have minimal effect. YES wider highways may stop head on collisions which is a big plus, but as long as drivers ignore speed limits, the deaths will continue.
Have you ever seen how some people drive around transports? Cutting too close, hiding in their blind spots, forgetting the two second and mirror rules…
I drive a couple times a week between NB and Sudbury...and I couldn't agree more. Tailgating is a huge problem, and you can NEVER go fast enough for these people. Tractor trailers are the worst, but oversized "bro" trucks are almost as bad. Until this is solved, making highways safer, makes them more dangerous. Tailgating should be a $1000 fine...and a 72 hour suspension.
You know, I can't say I blame them. I think more places should have this type of rule in place.A lot of Kids today have very little to near no respect for authority, whether that be their own parents/family members, adult staff at workplaces top to bottom or first responders at all levels. They're way too entitled, think they're above everyone & have to answer to no one.
For those about to complain let's be reminded of the vast number of septic systems that are rarely investigated within the Nipissing watershed that allow sewage to leak into the lakes that have 'developed' properties.
...you hit thenail on the head Ken.... every time we go out on roads and highway seems like a speed race to get to the next tim hortons... why the rush? Get up 15 minutes earlier than usual and take your time ... quit being so impatient in a rush to nowhere! Hope no injuries.
Also when the highway is closed and trucks are sitting idle. Be proactive and do a blitz as they are all lined up. This makes it easier to pull trucks off the road before something happens. This idea of being reactive after collisions and fatalities makes no sense.
Judging by past behaviour, there will be very little transparency in how the Ford government runs things. Freedom of information is a thing of the past.
The $20,000 is only the bill From the Integrity Commissioner. The Cassellholme board , chaired by We Know Mendo, controlled by Chirico has spent another $30,000 on a Toronto lawyer . Those funds are only to be used for the benefit of the residents of Cassellholme. These people have absolutely no shame.
It's an honest mistake. I thought I had the same degree from the same university until I remembered that I'd never been to California. Could happen to anybody in a satirical sort of sense.
Forcing the use of "approved learning resources" feels like a very slippery slope into a whole mess of problems. As one of the students who walked out in protest when Doug tried to revert our sex ed program to an outdated one years ago, I have absolutely zero trust in this man's ability to handle our education.
Ah thoughts are with residents with flooded basements, I was concerned with ditches being full and kids ?? falling in.... it could be so much worse as I am now reading. Hopefully those residents get the help they need ........ :-(
"unprecedented", "horrible". obviously you have not lived through a north bay flood before, this one is peanuts compared to what used to happen before they "fixed" the creek!
